Sidequest - Weekly Challenges

A weekly dare. A daily polaroid. A year you'll remember.

What it does

Habit apps grind you down with the same task forever. Sidequest flips it: every Sunday you pick one of four weekly dares - try a new café, take a cold shower, go phone-free in the mornings - and commit for 7 days. Snap a polaroid each day. By December you've got 52 polaroids and a scrapbook of a year you actually lived, instead of a broken streak. Local-first, anonymous, no accounts, no guilt-trip notifications. Just one small adventure a week, photographed.

Streak.ly tracks what you do daily and I'd love feedback on the concept2010 · ▲54

I've been working on a side project called Streak.ly with a friend of mine for the past month or so; it's intended to help keep you motivated to do otherwise mundane daily tasks (like do 10 pushups, read for an hour, etc.) by letting you log "streaks" — consecutive days in a row of doing something. It's in private alpha/beta/gamma/whatever right now (has some rough edges to clean up), but is more or less functionally complete and pretty stable. I'm a big fan of the Seinfeld calendar, and have seen other services which do similar things but were unsatisfying to use, either from an aesthetic…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
