Check site security before you click

SiteGuard launched on April 8, 2026.

What it does

SiteGuard is a simple online tool that helps you quickly check whether a website looks safe, trustworthy, and secure before you interact with it.

SiteGuard is a simple online tool that helps you quickly check whether a website looks safe, trustworthy, and secure before you interact with it. Every day, people visit new websites, download files, sign up for services, and share personal information without knowing if the site is legitimate. SiteGuard was created to remove that uncertainty by providing a fast and easy way to evaluate basic trust signals in seconds. Instead of guessing whether a website is safe, you can paste the website address into the tool and instantly receive a trust score along with key indicators such as HTTPS status, domain reliability, and overall risk level. Yes, it's open source: https://github.com/lissy93/web-check :) Why I'm building this? There are a lot of tools out there for discovering meta and security data relating to a website, IP or server. But currently, there isn't anything that does everything, all in one place and without a paywall/ user sign up. It's still a WIP, and I'm working on a new version, with some more comprehensive checks, so any feedback would be much appreciated :)

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
