SnowSignals

Hi HN, I’m Richard, and I built SnowSignals - the on-the-ground snow forecast to help skiers figure out when and where to ski great snow. Most forecasts focus on upcoming snowfall, but as a weekend warrior I'm not on the mountain most powder days. What matters more to me is playing the hand I’m dealt and making the most of what’s already on the ground. SnowSignals is the on-the-ground snow forecast built on a physics simulation. We integrate weather observations and forecasts into energy fluxes to model physical processes on the surface of the snow over time. In other words, avoid those ice…

What it does

Make the most of every ski day with SnowSignals - the snow conditions app. Snow or shine, SnowSignals guides you to the best turns on the mountain using the world's first AI snow conditions model. Always know which parts of the mountain are skiing best, and make every run count.

Find the best snow on the mountain, every day. SnowSignals gives skiers real-time snow condition insights and timing tools to plan better days on the slopes.

Plan smarter and ski better with snow conditions, ski plans, and the all-in-one ski app. Most days aren't powder days. SnowSignals helps you find the best snow no matter the weather, considering conditions, crowds, and more. See how the snow will ski, whenever and wherever you go. From firm mornings to hidden powder stashes, know what to expect before you send your line. Searchable maps, snowfall forecasts, lift status, guidebooks, and more. SnowSignals has everything you need for a great day on the slopes, nothing more. Weather and snow are modeled across precise terrain models, accounting for elevation, aspect, sun, wind, and clouds. Tracks how snow changes across time — compacting,…from snowsignals.com

Hello HN, I live in northern part of USA where winters are snowy. Whenever I took long trips, I always wondered what the weather along the route is going to be. To solve this problem for myself, I built https://navimodo.com/. NaviModo calculates the route, and then checks weather along the route based on your start time, and displays weather along the route. Change start time, and the whole thing is recalculated. I am not expecting any…

  • Community, All the HN belong to you. This is an archive of hacker news that fits in your browser. When I made HN Made of Primes I realized I could probably do this offline sqlite/wasm thing with the whole GBs of archive. The whole dataset. So I tried it, and this is it. Have Hacker News on your device. Go to this repo (https://github.com/DOSAYGO-STUDIO/HackerBook): you can download it. Big Query -> ETL -> npx serve docs - that's it. 20 years of HN arguments and beauty, can be yours forever. So they'll never die. Ever. It's the unkillable static archive of HN and it's…
