Solar Systems Designer

What it does

Most solar calculators just do the math. But what if that math fries your inverter on day one? Solar Systems Designer is an engineering safety net. Beyond sizing panels & batteries, it actively warns you about critical flaws before you install—like motor surges exceeding inverter capacity or unsafe charge currents. Features 3 sizing methods, regional climate factors, & a Telegram Bot for field techs. Stop guessing. Start engineering!

  Helios – what plug-in solar could generate for any address in BritainMay 2026 · helios.southlondonscientific.com · ▲126

Plug-in solar panels (no electrician needed) have just become legal in the UK and will go on sale soon. Helios estimates how much electricity a typical installation could generate at a given address and what that's worth against your tariff. It uses UK government LIDAR data to reflect the actual skyline, so it knows whether there's a building or a hill blocking the sun. Caveats: - Outside LIDAR coverage (most of Scotland and Wales) it falls back to a synthetic horizon (less accurate). - Trees and recent developments (post-2022 or so) may not be in the data, and some address placements could…

  Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481

Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
