SpeakUp launched on June 21, 2026 with 13 votes, #1,084 of 22,647 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches.
What it does
Fix typos and fire shortcuts by voice while you keep typing. No dictation, no cloud. Say the word, it patches the closest match in your text field. Built in Swift, on-device. MIT open source. macOS 12+.
Native macOS voice layer for live typo correction and command dispatch — not dictation, not AI. - MADR3B3L/speakup-livepatch
Want to use SpeakUp? Download the latest release — it includes the ready-to-run app: Do not use "Code → Download ZIP" unless you are a developer building from source. That downloads raw Swift files, not the app. Typing with certain conditions means errors stack up faster than you can catch them. Switching to a mouse to fix them breaks flow. Dictation apps take over your screen and your workflow. None of that works when you're trying to actually get things done. SpeakUp is what I wanted: a voice layer that fits around your work, not on top of it. Not a dictation app. Not an AI assistant. Something closer to a fast, invisible coworker sitting next to you — one that fixes the typo, fires the…from github.com

TongueType for macOSMay 2026 · tonguetype.app · ▲109Hi HN, I'm a longtime web dev, but this is my first macOS app. Feedback is very welcome <3 I built TongueType because every dictation app I tried failed at least one of three things: it sent my audio to someone's cloud, it charged me monthly fee, or it felt clunky or enterprisy. The cloud thing kills it for anything sensitive. The subscription thing is insulting for what amounts to "Whisper + a hotkey." TongueType runs Whisper locally on Apple Silicon via CoreML. It's built to feel like a second keyboard: tap the hotkey, talk, let go, words appear. It sits in the menu bar (no dock icon, no…

Talanoa▲343Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
