SpotRec
Around 4% of my Spotify library vanished — licensing, region blocks, artists pulling music. Those weren't just tracks, they were tied to memories and moments, suddenly gone without warning. I built SpotRec to fix this: it scans your library for greyed-out songs, finds matches on YouTube, and lets you save links or just the titles.
SpotRec launched on September 22, 2025 with 6 votes, #3,421 of 8,160 launches that month. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.
What it does
SpotRec scans your Spotify library for unavailable tracks and finds high-confidence YouTube alternatives. Export links or clean track lists to rebuild playlists for free.

I wanted a way to quickly generate new Spotify playlists from my library based on some simple user inputs. There are probably a bunch of songs floating around in old playlists that you will never listen to again so the Spotify Playlist Recycling Plant is an attempt to resurrect these forgotten gems! At the heart of this tool is a simple custom algorithm that uses Spotify's 5000+ unique genres to find similar artists. It works well for my purposes but everybody uses Spotify differently so I'd love some feedback :) Built using React and the Spotify Web API.

Spotitube – synchronize Spotify collections from external providers2023 · davidepucci.it · ▲14Some time ago I published here about Spotitube, a side project I had been working on to synchronize Spotify collections by fetching blobs from somewhere in the internet (e.g. YouTube). In the past few months it's undergone a huge rewrite which I think has let it become a nicer piece of software. I could definitely use some feedback, if anyone feels like it :)

I made a built-from scratch Wayland Compositor to display any GUI app* in the terminal! I think there is a lot of unexplored potential in custom Wayland compositors, a lot of really cool things you can embed existing applications into! So, I started with embedding apps into the terminal because that is the easiest input/output (output is just utf-8 and I use the great `chafa` library for that, and I just read from stdin for the input). If you have any other ideas for cool Wayland compositors, let me know. I purposedly wrote 80% the app in Typescript to appeal to the most developers and…

Years ago I stumbled across a basic version of this concept and it stuck with me. I knew if I was ever going to take on such a project, it would need to be flawless, but without coding experience it was just another idea that would never happen. By the end of 2024, as AI coding tools exploded everywhere, I finally had a way to make it real. I started from zero knowledge and spent months collaborating with AI agents as a learning experience. Every pixel and every function went through me. The AI translated what I asked for into code, but every decision was human. I didn't use existing OS…
