What it does

Simple, open-source, privacy-friendly analytics for your website and for your apps.

Simple, open-source, privacy-friendly analytics for your website and for your apps. Easy to self-host or use our upcoming cloud service. Core design principle for this project - simplicity. Storywise doesn't deliver bells and whistles. Here, we keep it simple! With the self-hosted option, you can take full control of your data. No more uncertainty about where the data goes. You can literally bring your own database. This project was born out of the desire to self-host. Storywise is open source so you can both self-host and trust what's under the hood. Did I mention "simple"? Yes, think I did already. But damn, that's the best part - it's simple. It's easy to use. It's easy to setup. It's…from joinstorywise.com

I've built a little prototype a long while back, to help me keep track of visitors on my website. I didn't like google analytics for obvious privacy reasons, and I didn't like the existing self-hosted options because of how complicated they are. I always wanted a simple, basic tool, similar to plausible, but even simpler. So a few weeks ago I rebuilt my prototype into a reusable tool. And I made it open source. I built a website, a documentation, and I'd be excited for someone else to try it too. Who knows, maybe if enough people like the idea, I might even make it into a SaaS to save…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

I saw this [0] pretty cool thread by user revskill, and wanted a quicker way to search through it, but also to keep them all in one place so I can read them at my leisure whenever I get time. Right now is like 60 lines of Ruby using Nokogiri, but I will certainly look into it further down the line and improve the list. There's a cronjob checking the thread every 12 hours but I will eventually shut that down and it will become static after that. There are some really awesome blogs in there. I really recommend going through the list, it made my day. [0] "Could you share your personal blog…
