Sudden is a zero-knowledge encrypted digital vault for UK families. Record your accounts, documents, wishes and instructions at your own pace — so your loved ones know exactly what to do. Free to start.

Built for parents and couples who keep meaning to sort this. Sudden walks you through it a bit at a time — your accounts, documents, and wishes — so nothing's left for them to search for. Four simple steps. Sudden walks you through everything your family would need — and keeps it private, encrypted, and ready. Try a sample question below — the same flow you'd use in your real vault. No document to scan, no AI reading your files. Just your answer, encrypted, reminded about, and shared with the right person. When someone dies unexpectedly, the person left behind has 24 hours to function. Banks to notify. Schools to call. The mortgage lender. The utilities. And most of the time — they don't…from sudden-app.com

Needle: We Distilled Gemini Tool Calling into a 26M Model▲776

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
