Swatcher
Hi folks, I built Swatcher.ie as a side project to experiment with colours, and it grew into matching paint colours in Ireland as a way of helping some family and friends out. It's free to use, and the paint exploration part doesn't require you to log in. Maybe others will find it useful. I'm just enjoying working on it, so I'm always playing around with it. Thanks!
Swatcher launched on July 24, 2025 with 6 votes. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.
What it does
Capture colours from the real world with your camera, explore thousands of paint colours from leading brands in Ireland, and create beautiful palettes with our AI-powered colour matching technology.
Match any colour to a real paint from 14 brands sold in Ireland — 8,100 colours cross-referenced and ready to explore.
A catalogue of 8,100 real paints across 14 brands sold in Ireland, cross-referenced by colour — go find yours. The feel you're after, or the facts of the room: south-facing, low ceilings, a sofa that's staying. The palette comes back as paints you can actually buy. Pick up to 5 paints and the palette is built around them: search the catalogue by name, or choose a colour and pick from the closest paints. A swatch is a promise; a wall is the test. Try a few real paints on a whole room here; the visualiser does the same for any paint in the catalogue, including the ones a palette hands you. Any paint on the walls and trim, from two angles, with a link that reopens the room you setfrom swatcher.ie

I made a new AI colorizer2022 · palette.fm · ▲472Hi HN, I’m Emil, the maker behind Palette. I’ve been tinkering with AI and colorization for about five years. This is my latest colorization model. It’s a text-based AI colorizer, so you can edit the colorizations with natural language. To make it easier to use, I also automatically create captions and generate filters. Let me know what you think. You can see some of my results on my reddit page: https://www.reddit.com/user/emilwallner/?sort=top

Explore color palettes inspired by 3000 master painter artworksMay 2026 · paletteinspiration.com · ▲215I built PaletteInspiration.com, a browsable archive of color palettes pulled from artworks by 3,000+ master painters (Monet, Vermeer, Raphael, Van Gogh). Why I built it: every color palette generator I tried converged on the same five muted pastels. Painters spent centuries figuring out color and we mostly ignore that body of work when picking colors for digital design. Please share your feedback on the Color Harmony Explorer - drag the wheel to any color and it shows which hues master painters historically paired with it (not only standard complementary, analogous, triadic, etc.) It is…

Trickle - Magic Canvas ▲1,064Hey HN! Introducing Trickle Magic Canvas: the world’s first Agentic Canvas, where you can visually co-create apps and websites with AI, from idea to production. Why is a canvas better? Most AI tools today rely on linear chats or text prompts. We believe that limits creativity and clarity. Canvas changes the game. 1. Every version & page at a glance. Each page and sub-page lives on a timeline. You can quickly browse, edit, and preview progress like a living, visual document — no more digging through chat logs or scattered states. 2. The canvas is the context. Unlike linear chats, you can…

Today marks ten years, 3653 consecutive days, of running at least one mile every day under the USRSA rules [1]. To celebrate, I built an interactive dashboard that turns a decade of GPX files into charts you can explore. Running has truly changed my life: I've made lifelong friends, explored beautiful places, and more importantly invested into my own health and fitness, which I'm starting to see the positive benefits as I get older. The stack is pretty simple: a NextJS app, with a Postgres database to keep all my running data, and all the stats are pre-computed and cached in Redis, so I…

Made this website as an exercise in vibe-coding and GCP. It was posted about a few times around the internet, on sites like Morning Brew (https://www.morningbrew.com/issues/business-buzzkill), MetaFilter (https://www.metafilter.com/209703/Draw-A-Fish), boingboing.net, etc. I think it's cute! I built a basic CNN trained against penises and swastikas, and then anything that doesn't hit the 63% confidence score gets sent to a mod queue, a vibe-coded fish-tinder…

Hi HN - I made a site that takes a UK postcode, grabs the local MP's information and generates an AI mockup of what their ID might look like. It's a small, silly protest at the stupidity of the Online Safety Act that just came into force. edit - My open AI credits got hugged to death, please use a known postcode (like one from Kier Starmer's constituency, WC2B6NH) in the meantime.
