Synthetic Users

We initially built Jina as an AI QA engineer. The value prop was simple - turn a prompt into a test case. But as we worked with customers, we discovered something much more powerful. We could have Jina be your user. Take on your user's persona, explore your app like them catch bugs like they would. All in addition to of course a core foundation in writing QA tests from a single prompt with 0 maintenance.

Synthetic Users launched on July 24, 2025 with 142 votes, #265 of 9,224 launches that month and more than 95% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

Jina's synthetic users act like your real users. They run QA tests, catch bugs you didn't know existed, and give you feedback on how to improve your app. Completely autonomously.

Jina's synthetic users act like your real users. They run E2E tests, catch bugs you didn't know existed, and give you feedback on what to improve.

Jina is your AI QA engineer. It spins up AI users that browse your app like real people, run end-to-end tests, and catch bugs autonomously, at scale. It understands UI, code, and user intent. Doesn't rely on test scripts or CSS selectors and requires no maintenance.

Hi, I'm Daniel, CEO of QA.tech. We've spent the past 18 months developing a cool tool that allows you to run end-to-end tests on any web application using natural language. Check it out and let us know what you think! I used to be a CTO at a B2C marketplace and was taken aback that all qa agencies we talked to wanted to create a custom suite of tests from scratch. Even though we were essentially a e-com with the same functionality as everyone else. Why weren't there any best practices? Some time later my co-founders and I had moved on and were looking for the next thing to do. AI agents…

Hi HN, As PMs (Google, Gopuff, Shiji), my cofounder and I ran hundreds of user tests over the years. And every time it felt broken: It could take 2–5 days just to get enough usable results We spent hours watching recordings to extract a handful of insights “Professional testers” rushed through tasks for pay, creating biased feedback Platforms often started at €10k+ per year, with hidden fees on top The result: slow iteration cycles, unreliable feedback, and user testing that often felt like a tax rather than a tool. We started asking: what if AI could help? Could synthetic users replicate…

I built an AI agent that can do mobile app QA after working at Google for years and waiting weeks for QA results. It runs on real devices and uses an ensemble of agents (including computer use) to test like a human. Happy to answer questions and hope it helps app devs ship faster without bugs!

  • Hey HN! Introducing Trickle Magic Canvas: the world’s first Agentic Canvas, where you can visually co-create apps and websites with AI, from idea to production. Why is a canvas better? Most AI tools today rely on linear chats or text prompts. We believe that limits creativity and clarity. Canvas changes the game. 1. Every version & page at a glance. Each page and sub-page lives on a timeline. You can quickly browse, edit, and preview progress like a living, visual document — no more digging through chat logs or scattered states. 2. The canvas is the context. Unlike linear chats, you can…

  • Today marks ten years, 3653 consecutive days, of running at least one mile every day under the USRSA rules [1]. To celebrate, I built an interactive dashboard that turns a decade of GPX files into charts you can explore. Running has truly changed my life: I've made lifelong friends, explored beautiful places, and more importantly invested into my own health and fitness, which I'm starting to see the positive benefits as I get older. The stack is pretty simple: a NextJS app, with a Postgres database to keep all my running data, and all the stats are pre-computed and cached in Redis, so I…

  • Made this website as an exercise in vibe-coding and GCP. It was posted about a few times around the internet, on sites like Morning Brew (https://www.morningbrew.com/issues/business-buzzkill), MetaFilter (https://www.metafilter.com/209703/Draw-A-Fish), boingboing.net, etc. I think it's cute! I built a basic CNN trained against penises and swastikas, and then anything that doesn't hit the 63% confidence score gets sent to a mod queue, a vibe-coded fish-tinder…

  • Hi HN - I made a site that takes a UK postcode, grabs the local MP's information and generates an AI mockup of what their ID might look like. It's a small, silly protest at the stupidity of the Online Safety Act that just came into force. edit - My open AI credits got hugged to death, please use a known postcode (like one from Kier Starmer's constituency, WC2B6NH) in the meantime.
