What it does

TabShame is a macOS menu bar app that counts your open tabs across Safari, Chrome, and Edge — then shames you with escalating emojis, notifications, and sound effects.

A macOS menu bar app that shames you for having too many browser tabs open. That's it. That's the app.

A macOS menu bar app that counts your open tabs across Safari, Chrome, and Edge — then shames you with escalating notifications and sound effects. That's it. That's the app. Choose your preferred method of humiliation. Click to preview. Toggle shame notifications that escalate with your tab count. From every 1 minute to every 3 hours. You pick the frequency. 6 sound options with an adjustable volume slider. Or go silent. TabShame uses macOS Automation (AppleScript) to count open tabs in Safari, Chrome, and Edge. It only reads the number of tabs — never URLs, titles, or page content. No. TabShame runs entirely on your Mac. Nothing is sent to any server. No analytics, no tracking, no…from tabshame.com

Hey everyone! I have a bad habit that I always end up with dozens of browser tabs and apps open at the same time. It gets so messy that finding one specific website becomes a nightmare. So I developed a extension + macOS menu bar app for myself and after using it for a while, I found it is much more better than I expected, so I decided to package it and release it as open source, completely free! I'd love to hear your feedback and looking forward to improve our app together!

  • Needle: We Distilled Gemini Tool Calling into a 26M Model▲776

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
