TeenCycle

Private, offline period tracker. Pay once, no account.

TeenCycle launched on June 28, 2026 with 11 votes, #1,225 of 22,647 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches.

What it does

TeenCycle is a period tracker that runs entirely on your phone. No account, no cloud, no analytics, no ads — nothing ever leaves the device, so there is nothing for anyone to sell, leak, or hand over. Three screens, one tap to log, and a calendar that estimates when your next period is likely. A mom and her teenage daughter built it for teens, but it works for anyone who would rather not be tracked. Free for 7 days, then $9.99 once. Never a subscription. On iOS and Android.

A calm, beautifully minimal period tracker for teenagers. No accounts. No cloud. No tracking pixels. Your data lives on your phone.

    I made a privacy friendly and simple app to track my menstruation2024 · play.google.com · ▲732

Hey HN, after the app I actually used to track my period wanted me to log in and save my data in the cloud, I decided to write my own. Most apps in this area are based on a subscription model and display far too much information anyway. For me, a simple calendar is enough where I can add a few notes if necessary. So that is the result of my work - a simple design and the data is only saved on the smartphone.

I've been running Simpluna, a period-tracking app, for six years. It's a company based in Tokyo, Japan, but development and operations are basically a one-person effort. The app is built with React Native (Expo). The defining trait of the app is that it's simple, with no unnecessary features. Recording periods, calculating predictions, and sending notifications — that's the core of it. This space is dominated by big players (Flo, Clue, and in Japan, Luna Luna). Building something similar would have been hopeless, so I made the things those apps don't have my selling point. Optional features…

  • Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

  • Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
