Testronaut
Hi HN, I’ve been working on a project called *Testronaut*, an autonomous testing framework that combines AI reasoning with real browser automation. The idea is to let you define end-to-end tests as “missions” in plain English, then have an agent run them through a real browser using Playwright. Why I built this: I’ve often found end-to-end tests to be fragile, time-consuming to maintain, and difficult to scale. Testronaut tries to reduce the maintenance burden by using AI to adapt tests to small UI changes, while still producing a deterministic report of what passed/failed. How it…

What it does
Mission-based autonomous testing powered by AI + Playwright. Write tests in plain English, run real browsers, ship with confidence.
Testronaut runs mission-based tests in a real browser using AI. Write tests in plain English, get deterministic actions and human-friendly reports. Define flows in natural language or lightweight JS. Fewer brittle selectors, more productivity. Guided actions via Playwright + structured DOM context. Less flakiness, clearer failures. Visualize pass/fail, tokens, and screenshots across suites. Upload from CI with one command. Use your own API key. Choose your preferred provider below — Testronaut adapts automatically. //Write: // missions/login.mission.js import { runMissions } from 'testronaut'; export const loginMission = `Visit ${YOUR_SITE_HERE}. Fill the username field with ${USERNAME}…from testronaut.app

QA.tech 1.02025 · qa.tech · ▲413Hi, I'm Daniel, CEO of QA.tech. We've spent the past 18 months developing a cool tool that allows you to run end-to-end tests on any web application using natural language. Check it out and let us know what you think! I used to be a CTO at a B2C marketplace and was taken aback that all qa agencies we talked to wanted to create a custom suite of tests from scratch. Even though we were essentially a e-com with the same functionality as everyone else. Why weren't there any best practices? Some time later my co-founders and I had moved on and were looking for the next thing to do. AI agents…

Libretto – Making AI browser automations deterministicApr 2026 · github.com · ▲134Libretto (https://libretto.sh) is a Skill+CLI that makes it easy for your coding agent to generate deterministic browser automations and debug existing ones. Key shift is going from “give an agent a prompt at runtime and hope it figures things out” to: “Use coding agents to generate real scripts you can inspect, run, and debug”. Here’s a demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cDpIntmHAM. Docs start at https://libretto.sh/docs/get-started/introduction. We spent a year building and maintaining browser automations for EHR and payer portal…

The site hit #1 on HN about a year ago. Got enough traffic that I turned it into a proper API. What's there: - REST API — 35k products, manually filterable by category, free key, 60 req/min - CLI — npx anycrap random -c food - faker.js plugin — bundled, no API call, works offline - HuggingFace dataset — full 35k rows for ML/training https://anycrap.shop/developers

I made a built-from scratch Wayland Compositor to display any GUI app* in the terminal! I think there is a lot of unexplored potential in custom Wayland compositors, a lot of really cool things you can embed existing applications into! So, I started with embedding apps into the terminal because that is the easiest input/output (output is just utf-8 and I use the great `chafa` library for that, and I just read from stdin for the input). If you have any other ideas for cool Wayland compositors, let me know. I purposedly wrote 80% the app in Typescript to appeal to the most developers and…

Years ago I stumbled across a basic version of this concept and it stuck with me. I knew if I was ever going to take on such a project, it would need to be flawless, but without coding experience it was just another idea that would never happen. By the end of 2024, as AI coding tools exploded everywhere, I finally had a way to make it real. I started from zero knowledge and spent months collaborating with AI agents as a learning experience. Every pixel and every function went through me. The AI translated what I asked for into code, but every decision was human. I didn't use existing OS…
