tfsec

🔒🌍 Static analysis powered security scanner for terraform

tfsec launched on November 4, 2019 with 2 votes. The site was still online in September 2026, 6 years on.

What it does

tfsec uses static analysis of your terraform templates to spot potential security issues. For example, tfsec can warn you when you open an inbound security group rule to the whole internet by mistake, or when you try to commit a plaintext secret to the repo.

Tfsec is now part of Trivy. Contribute to aquasecurity/tfsec development by creating an account on GitHub.

tracexec helps you to figure out what and how programs get executed when you execute a command. It's useful for debugging build systems, catching fd leaks, understanding what shell scripts actually do, figuring out what programs does a proprietary software run, etc.

  • Tangent – Security log pipeline powered by WASMNov 2025 · github.com · ▲28

Hi HN! We’re Ethan and Danny, the authors of Tangent (https://github.com/telophasehq/tangent), a Rust-based log pipeline where all normalization, enrichment, and detection logic runs as WASM plugins. We kept seeing the same problems in the OCSF (https://ocsf.io) community: 1) Schemas change constantly. Large companies have whole teams dedicated to keeping vendor→OCSF mappings up to date. 2) There’s no shared library of mappings, so everyone recreates the same work. 3) Writing mappers is tedious, repetitive work. 4) Most pipelines use proprietary DSLs that are…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
