The Code Book
Learn programming interactively and escape tutorial hell.
What it does
The Code Book is an interactive platform built to help people escape video "tutorial hell" and learn programming properly. It features a hands-on, gamified curriculum covering 7 levels from zero to pro. It includes bite-sized coding challenges, XP/streak tracking, built-in SRS flashcards, and focus timers to keep you locked in. It's 100% free, works on mobile/desktop, and requires no install. Looking for honest feedback from the community on what breaks or feels good!

I've been a longtime member @ HN, but I haven't been a developer. In fact, my only HN submission has been one asking how to learn to code (http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=820741). My cofounder and I decided to solve the problem by making a simple, interactive way to get started with Codecademy. We'd love your feedback. If you're interested in helping us to get more courses up (on any topic!), please send us an email at [email protected].

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
