In plain words

Thermal Receipt Printers is a tool for managing and controlling thermal receipt printers through both a markdown interface and a web-based UI. It allows users to format and send print jobs to thermal printers without requiring specialized software. The software is designed for anyone who needs to programmatically generate receipts or labels, from small business owners to developers building point-of-sale systems. The dual interface approach makes it accessible to both technical and non-technical users.

Did you ever buy a thermal receipt printer "to do cool stuff" which is now collecting dust? No? Me neither. But if you have a friend that did, ThermalMarky is here to help by supporting basic Markdown features and a basic WebUI to go with it. Unfortunately due to the different types of thermal printers out there, you will need to make sure your printer works before trying to use ThermalMarky. This project has only been tested with MUNBYN Thermal Printer / ITPP047UE-WH-UK . Rename .env.example to .env and fill in the required information. # # Printer Setup # # Printer Connection: usb or network MARKY_TYPE=usb # USB, get this information by running `lsusb` while your printer is connected. Printercow – Turn any thermal printer into an API endpoint2025 · printercow.com · ▲150

I've always been fascinated by thermal printers – there's something magical about seeing text and images materialize on paper in seconds. But I found that working with them programmatically was always a pain. You either had to deal with ancient printer protocols or use clunky vendor-specific SDKs. So I built Printercow (https://printercow.com) – it turns any thermal printer into an HTTP endpoint with just one command. Technical details: - Supports any ESC/POS compatible printer (Epson, Star Micronics, etc.) - Handles paper widths from 58mm to 120mm - Automatic image dithering…

  • Print the daily weather forecast on a thermal receipt printer2025 · github.com · ▲21

I wrote this simple Python script that prints the daily weather forecast on those cheap thermal receipt printers you can get online for under fifty bucks. It fetches weather data, converts the icons to something printable, and outputs everything in ESC/POS format so you can pipe it directly to /dev/USB/lp0. Nothing fancy, i just thought it would be nice to have a physical weather printout each morning. You can configure it with your GPS coordinates and timezone, and stick it in a cron job. Enjoy!

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
