What it does

TitanFile Viewer is a desktop application for Windows and Linux designed to inspect, search, filter, select, and copy data from very large text-based files without loading the entire file into memory. Key Features • Open large TXT, JSON, CSV, and log files • Fast text search across very large datasets • Copy selected records without modifying source files • Bounded memory usage for massive files Free Demo Available Platforms • Windows 10 / 11 (x64) • Linux (Ubuntu/AppImage)

Open, search, and filter 20 GB+ text, JSON, CSV, and log files with bounded memory usage on Windows 11 and Ubuntu.

TitanFile Viewer opens, searches, and filters massive text, JSON, CSV, and log files with bounded memory usage. Your source stays read-only and untouched. TitanFile reads only the data window you need, keeping the interface responsive while the file remains safely on disk. Move from the beginning to the middle or end of multi-gigabyte files without loading the entire file into RAM. Find literal text forward or backward, including matches that cross internal read boundaries. Show matching TXT and CSV lines, or retain complete enclosing JSON objects as valid JSON output. Count lines for text and CSV files, and count objects when inspecting JSON. Copy visible content and save clean filtered…from codefinix.com

I’ve been dealing with huge log files lately, several GBs in size, and got frustrated with common tools such as Notepad++ freezing and crashing a server with limited RAM. I wanted something fast, relatively lightweight, and install-free for Windows. I have been searched around the web for a while but couldn't find an equivalent, so I built Giant Log Viewer. Features: - It is an equivalent of the Linux' `less` pager tool for Windows, but works on Linux and macOS too - Opens multi-GB UTF-8 unstructured log/text files instantly (without loading everything into memory) - Navigates through…

  • I rewrote my Mac Electron app in Rust2025 · desktopdocs.com · ▲597

A year ago, my co-founder launched Desktop Docs here on HN. It's a Mac app we built with Electron that uses CLIP embeddings to search photos and videos locally with natural language. We got positive feedback from HN and our first paying customers, but the app was almost 1GB and clunky to use. TLDR; rebuilding in Rust was the right move. So we rewrote the app with Rust and Tauri and here are the results: - App size is 83% smaller: 1GB → 172MB - DMG Installer is 70% smaller: 232MB → 69.5MB - Indexing files is faster: A 38-minute video now indexes in ~3 minutes instead of 10-14 minutes -…

  • Leaves – A text-UI disk usage treemap visualizerJul 2026 · github.com · ▲93

GUI disk analyzers are great for figuring out what's filling up your laptop/desktop drive. On containers or remote servers, the options are limited to purely text based utilities (e.g. du) or list-centric TUIs (e.g. ncdu) which are usually limited to viewing one directory at a time. I created leaves to fill that gap. Inspired by classic utilities like WinDirStat and KDirStat, it uses a 2-dimensional treemap^1 visualization to show the entire directory hierarchy with proportionally sized rectangles. It's performant enough to handle millions of files, thanks to Rust and multi-threading.…

  • Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

  • Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
