What it does
With a collective passion for transport networks, visualising data, and electronics, it was only a matter of time before we combined these things. Growing out of the Cambridge Hackspace after many nights tinkering with designs and prototyping ideas, these boards combine a lifetime of passion.
Visually stunning physical maps showing the live movement of all trains on each transit network. Quickly check the status of your line before you leave in the morning, see all activity in one glance. Covering a growing network of transit systems, which one shall we build next? Hats off to @TrackrTrain these PCBs of rail networks that use live open data to show real-time movements are awesome. - Barry Bullas MBE, Twitter I love your concept, I’ve bought it for my husband for Christmas, it’s a massive win as I also get the pleasure of it too! - Sally, Email Got my @MBTA @TrackrTrain today. This thing puts me in awe every time I look at it. - Ryan, Twitter Designed in Somerville USA, and…from traintrackr.io

I built a transit travel time map2023 · map.henryn.xyz · ▲255This was something I built while trying to look for housing in Toronto that was decently transit-accessible to my office while still cheap. The backend is written in Rust. It parses public GTFS data from transit agencies and performs a simple heuristics-based BFS on the bus lines to calculate how long to reach all points in a city. The frontend uses React and Mapbox GL to render each individual road segment based on how long it takes to reach. This project was a great excuse to learn Rust, deployments, and mapping. Hey all My name is Sindre, and I am the CTO of Scrimba (YC S20). For the last 7 years, I have written all my web apps in a full-stack programming language called Imba. It compiles to JavaScript and its main goal is to make web developers more productive. I just launched a major overhaul of Imba, so I wanted to share it here on HN, in case anyone are interested in learning more about it. It is very opinionated, so some of you might not like it, but I would love to hear anyones feedback regardless. Constructive criticism appreciated! The backstory: Imba initially started in 2012 as an effort…

Hello HN, Over the last year we've been building ente[1], a privacy-friendly, easy-to-use alternative to Google Photos. We've so far built Android[2][3], iOS[4], web[5] apps that encrypt your files and back them up in the background. You can access these across your devices, and share them with other ente users, end-to-end encrypted. You can also use our electron app[6] to maintain a local copy of your backed up files. We've built a fault-tolerant data replication layer that replicates your data to two different storage providers in the EU. We will be providing additional replicas as an…
