Tucky

Notes docked to your screen edge, with an AI agent inside

What it does

Tucky is a native macOS notes app that sleeps as a thin stripe on the screen edge. Local and encrypted. Plus is $12/month for voice, connectors, and the best LLM models.

Tucky is a native macOS notes app that sleeps as a thin stripe on the screen edge. Local and encrypted. Plus is $12 a month for voice, connectors, and the best models.

Your notes live at the edge, tucked away until you need them. Reach over—they fan out. Pick one—it opens. Ask your agent from anywhere. Everything stays encrypted on your Mac. 1.0.8 · $12 a month · one free note · macOS 15 or later · Apple silicon and Intel · about 15 MB · updates itself Reach over — the titles are there. Still notes, still on this Mac. Search, write, talk to your notes. Calendar, mail, the apps you linked. AI lives in Tucky, not in another window. Hold ⌥Space and talk to your notes. All the models are already in the app. Download and keep one note on this Mac. Plus adds AI, voice, and apps. Subscribe in the app. The agent, the connectors. • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

  • Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

  • I built slotstream, a way to run Qwen3.8-Flash-Next 4-bit on a low-memory mac starting from 16GB, a 125B parameter model that would need 100GB+ memory/RAM, thanks to expert-offloading/ssd-streaming. Easy to install/update, and mac-native using MLX and Swift. It ships with auto-mode, which makes a good tradeoff between memory usage and speed. I'll be implementing and porting the MTP module for speculative decoding next Local models really are the future of computing!
