Unused

A VS Code extension that detects dead code across a codebase

What it does

A VS Code extension that performs deep static analysis to detect unused code in JavaScript and TypeScript projects. It identifies dead code beyond unused imports and variables, including functions, components, classes, interfaces, types, enums, exports, hooks, and entire modules. By analyzing project-wide dependencies and usage patterns, it helps developers reduce technical debt, improve maintainability, and keep codebases clean and efficient.

    ts-remove-unused – Remove unused code from your TypeScript project2024 · github.com · ▲141

ts-remove-unused is a command line tool for TypeScript projects that auto-fixes unused `export`s. It removes the export keyword from the declaration or the whole declaration based on its usage in the project. There are some similar tools but they are focused on "detecting" rather than "removing" so I've built one myself. I wanted a solution that's as minimal as possible; config files to specify the files in your project shouldn't be necessary because that info should be already configured in tsconfig.json. All you need to do is to specify your entrypoint file. Feedback is much appreciated!

    Letting LLMs Run a Debugger2025 · github.com · ▲147

Hey HN, I just built an experimental VSCode extension called LLM Debugger. It’s a proof-of-concept that lets a large language model take charge of debugging. Instead of only looking at the static code, the LLM also gets to see the live runtime state—actual variable values, function calls, branch decisions, and more. The idea is to give it enough context to help diagnose issues faster and even generate synthetic data from running programs. Here’s what it does: * Active Debugging: It integrates with Node.js debug sessions to gather runtime info (like variable states and stack traces). *…

    Nogic – VS Code extension that visualizes your codebase as a graphJan 2026 · marketplace.visualstudio.com · ▲135

I built Nogic, a VSCode extension currently, because AI tools make code grow faster than developers can build a mental model by jumping between files. Exploring structure visually has been helping me onboard to unfamiliar codebases faster. It’s early and rough, but usable. Would love feedback on whether this is useful and what relationships are most valuable to visualize.

Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!
