In plain words

Vector is a high-level programming language designed for general-purpose computing on Nvidia GPUs. Created as a university capstone project, it compiles Vector code into CUDA for execution on graphics processors. The language aims to simplify GPU programming for compute-intensive tasks like scientific simulations, offering a more accessible alternative to lower-level GPU frameworks. Vector was developed by a team of students as their final project for a programming languages course.

From the sources

Vector was our team’s final project for COMS 4115: Programming Languages and Translators. Vector is a high-level language for general-purpose GPU computing. Over the course of the semester, our team developed a compiler that compiled Vector into CUDA, which could then be compiled to run on Nvidia GPUs. My teammates were Zachary Newman, Sidharth Shanker, Jonathan Yu, and Harry Lee. General-purpose computing on the GPU (GPGPU) has become more popular lately with the introduction of CUDA and OpenCL. They have been shown to perform quite well at compute-heavy tasks, such as running scientific simulations. However, writing GPU programs in CUDA or OpenCL require a lot of boilerplate, such as…from zhehaomao.com

This is a vector index I built that supports insertion and k-nearest neighbors (k-NN) querying, optimized for GPUs. It operates entirely in CUDA and can process queries on half a billion vectors in under 200 milliseconds. The codebase is structured as a standalone library with an HTTP API for remote access. It’s intended for high-performance search tasks—think similarity search, AI model retrieval, or reinforcement learning replay buffers. The codebase is located at https://github.com/rodlaf/BinaryGPUIndex.
