Native Mac word processor for people who hate subscriptions. Opensdocx, exports Markdown, 16 languages, focus mode, track changes. 8 MB. Launches instantly. Made by one developer in Brighton.
You open the .docx your editor emailed you. You write. That’s the whole thing. It saves back to the same file, and never asks you to sign in. Thirty-seven releases since launch. Not built in a day, revised like a manuscript. I wrote a lot in Word, and then I wrote a lot in the things that were supposed to replace it. The replacements were lighter, but they all wanted something: a subscription, an account, a folder structure, a format of their own. What I wanted was a Mac app that opened the .docx someone emailed me, let me work on it, and gave it back to them unchanged apart from the edits. That is a small ask and nothing was doing it. 1. Click capture text 2. Select an area on screen with text 3. Paste the text anywhere Are there other solutions out there? Yes, the best one that I've found is Text Sniper, it $8 so I decided to learn SwiftUI and release Text Capture for $0.99. This one uses MacOS builtin Vision API under the hood so it should also improve with new macOS releases. Would love to hear your feedback!

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!
