Vibe Code your 3D Models
Hi HN, I’m the creator of SynapsCAD, an open-source desktop application I've been building that combines an OpenSCAD code editor, a real-time 3D viewport, and an AI assistant. You can write OpenSCAD code, compile it directly to a 3D mesh, and use an LLM (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, ...) to modify the code through natural language. Demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cN8a5UozS5Q A bit about the architecture: - It’s built entirely in Rust. - The UI and 3D viewport are powered by Bevy 0.15 and egui. - It uses a pure-Rust compilation pipeline (openscad-rs for parsing and csgrs…
In plain words
SynapsCAD is an open-source desktop application for designing 3D models using OpenSCAD code. It combines a code editor, real-time 3D viewport, and an AI assistant that lets users modify designs through natural language prompts with supported LLMs like OpenAI, Claude, and Gemini. Built entirely in Rust using Bevy and egui, the application compiles code directly to 3D meshes without requiring external tools. The software is designed for 3D modeling enthusiasts and engineers who want to blend traditional code-based CAD workflows with AI-assisted design capabilities.

Disclaimer: This is a very early prototype. The OpenSCAD parser/compiler doesn't support everything perfectly yet, so you will definitely hit some rough edges if you throw complex scripts at it. I mostly just want to get this into the hands of people who tinker with CAD or Rust. I'd be super happy for any feedback, architectural critiques, or bug reports—especially if you can drop specific OpenSCAD snippets that break the compiler in the GitHub issues! Hey HN! I'm Zach from Adam (https://adam.new/). We’re building an AI co-pilot for mechanical CAD software. As part of our broader research, we built a browser-based Text-to-CAD app (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44182206) and are now open sourcing it. This is a React SPA with a Supabase backend. What it does: * Generates parametric 3D models from natural language descriptions, with support for both text prompts and image references * Outputs OpenSCAD code with automatically extracted parameters that surface as interactive sliders for instant dimension…

I'm currently developing Chili3D, an open-source, browser-based 3D CAD application. By compiling OpenCascade to WebAssembly and integrating Three.js, Chili3D delivers near-native performance for powerful online modeling, editing, and rendering—all without local installation. Access it here: https://github.com/xiangechen/chili3d Features: Modeling Tools: Create basic shapes (boxes, cylinders, cones, etc.), 2D sketches (lines, arcs, circles, etc.), and perform advanced operations (boolean operations, extrusion, revolution, etc.). Snapping and Tracking: Precisely snap to…

I created vibescaffold.dev. It is a wizard-style AI tool that will guide you from idea → vision → tech spec → implementation plan. It will generate all the documents necessary for AI coding agents to understand & iteratively execute on your vision. How it works: - Step 1: Define your product vision and MVP - Step 2: AI helps create technical architecture and data models - Step 3: Generate a staged development plan - Step 4: Create an AGENTS.md for automated workflows I've used AI coding tools for awhile. Before this workflow (and now, this tool), I kept getting "close but not quite" results…
- DADSLCad – a programming language and interpreter for building 3D models2023 · github.com · ▲198
Hey HN. Over the last half a year I have been working on a 3D CAD programming language called DSLCAD. Today I am here to show my first release! It is heavily inspired by OpenSCAD which got me hooked on the idea of a CAD programming language and what it can do. Please let me know what you think. Ill be in the thread to answer any questions you may have.

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…
