Vicinity
High Quality Ambient Background Sounds in your macOS MenuBar
Vicinity launched on September 9, 2016 with 116 votes, #316 of 3,744 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 10 years on.
What it does
You can’t always work in places with good ambient noise. That’s why we created Vicinity. Vicinity helps you to stay concentrated, focused or to relax. Using selected, handpicked, high-quality ambient sounds, it enhances your environment by creating an authentic acoustic atmosphere. Taking place in your menubar, it’s super-easy and fast accessible.
App ahead is a software studio led and founded by Martin Lexow. I craft opinionated apps that are honest and functional.
