You can see the spam comments and which users are posting the spam in real time. Also, here's a post we wrote about how we set it up: https://www.trytrench.com/blog/preventing-spam-and-fake-star...

In plain words

This tool monitors GitHub's public event stream to detect and display spam comments and fake stars in real time. Developers and GitHub users can observe spam activity as it happens, seeing which accounts are posting malicious comments. The dashboard provides visibility into spam patterns on the platform, helping users understand the scope of coordinated spam campaigns targeting GitHub repositories.

When I came across a study that traced 4.5 million fake GitHub stars, it confirmed a suspicion I’d had for a while: stars are noisy. The issue is they’re visible, they’re persuasive, and they still shape hiring decisions, VC term sheets, and dependency choices—but they say very little about actual quality. I wrote StarGuard to put that number in perspective based on my own methodology inspired with what they did and to fold a broader supply-chain check into one command-line run. It starts with the simplest raw input: every starred_at timestamp GitHub will give. It applies a…

  • I made a heatmap diff viewer for code reviewsOct 2025 · 0github.com · ▲265

0github.com is a pull request viewer that color-codes every diff line/token by how much human attention it probably needs. Unlike PR-review bots, we try to flag not just by "is it a bug?" but by "is it worth a second look?" (examples: hard-coded secret, weird crypto mode, gnarly logic, ugly code). To try it, replace github.com with 0github.com in any pull-request URL. Under the hood, we split the PR into individual files, and for each file, we ask an LLM to annotate each line with a data structure that we parse into a colored heatmap. Examples:…

Since everyone seems to be making a github application, I thought I'd share mine. It's an aggregated view of all of a given person's github projects, as well as easyish lookups for linkedin/stackoverflow/hackernews. It attempts to determine both productivity (how much code did this person write?) as well as impact (did anyone care?) I'd love any feedback, but go easy on the number of simultaneous searches as I'm trying to play nice by github's api limits. check it -- http://www.gitalytics.com

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
