Who Hears

Music shouldn't be like Mc Donald's. Hand-picked music gems.

Who Hears launched on July 13, 2017 with 71 votes, #633 of 2,972 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 9 years on.

What it does

Music shouldn't be like Mc Donald's. Hand-picked music gems. A bunch of people (including myself) very passionate when it comes to digging for hidden music gems decided to create a place where people can discover music other than big names, big marketing campaigns and so on.

Type your Last.fm username and Whohears builds your Dex: a numbered wall of tracks your friends play that you haven't heard. Catch them by listening, earn XP, level up. Free, no sign-up.

Algorithms don't have taste. People do. Your Dex fills with tracks your friends play that you haven't heard — catch them by listening. Whohears is a free Last.fm companion that turns the tracks your Last.fm friends are listening to into a collection you fill in by listening — a Dex of numbered cards ranked by how rare each artist is. A public username is all it needs. Free, no password, never scrobbles. Press Play, listen a few seconds, and the card is caught for good. Tiers come from the artist's global Last.fm listener count, so the same track is the same tier for everyone. Rarer catches pay more XP. A Last.fm profile with scrobbles and a few friends, yes. A Whohears account, no — signing…from whohears.com

In Digs, the basic idea is that: - you can add music releases (albums, EPs, singles, mixes) in three lists: Want to Listen, Listened, Digged. You can also use tags and notes to better organize these lists. - you get a public…
