In plain words
WTFfmpeg is a tool that translates natural language commands into FFmpeg syntax, making video processing more accessible. Users can describe what they want to do with their videos in plain English rather than learning complex FFmpeg command-line arguments. The translator converts these descriptions into the proper FFmpeg commands needed to execute the task. It's designed for anyone who needs to manipulate videos but finds FFmpeg's technical syntax intimidating.

New in v0.3.0: the REPL's history and the model's chatter are both under your control now. Up/down arrow can scroll through everything (the default), just your typed prompts, or just !commands — configurable via history=[prompt|command|all] ( --history , /config ), with shift+arrows and ctrl+arrows filtering to prompts/commands on the fly regardless of mode. Generated commands you never ran (and alternative commands from the same response) stay reachable in command history instead of vanishing. And everything the model said beyond the one command shown — explanations, warnings, other options — is kept in a session transcript: /raw pages the full response, and ctrl-t toggles a small…from github.com

Ez FFmpeg – Video editing in plain EnglishDec 2025 · npmjs.com · ▲420I built a CLI tool that lets you do common video/audio operations without remembering ffmpeg syntax. Instead of: ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -vf "fps=15,scale=480:-1:flags=lanczos" -loop 0 output.gif You write: ff convert video.mp4 to gif More examples: ff compress video.mp4 to 10mb ff trim video.mp4 from 0:30 to 1:00 ff extract audio from video.mp4 ff resize video.mp4 to 720p ff speed up video.mp4 by 2x ff reverse video.mp4 There are similar tools that use LLMs (wtffmpeg, llmpeg, ai-ffmpeg-cli), but they require API keys, cost money, and have latency. Ez FFmpeg is different: - No AI – just…

I found that I am using ChatGPT more and more to get the FFmpeg command I need, but the process can be a bit tedious: copy-pasting commands, dealing with input file names and locations, making sure the prompt contains enough info about the input files. This site attempts to solve that. You just describe what you want to do, pick the input files and an LLM (currently DeepSeek) generates the FFmpeg command. You can then run it directly in your browser or use the command elsewhere.

Typed-FFmpeg 3.0–Typed Interface to FFmpeg and Visual Filter Editor2025 · github.com · ▲342Hi HN, I built typed-ffmpeg, a Python package that lets you build FFmpeg filter graphs with full type safety, autocomplete, and validation. It’s inspired by ffmpeg-python, but addresses some long-standing issues like lack of IDE support and fragile CLI strings. What’s New in v3.0: • Source filter support (e.g. color, testsrc, etc.) • Input stream selection (e.g. [0:a], [1:v]) • A new interactive playground where you can: • Build filter graphs visually • Generate both FFmpeg CLI and typed Python code • Paste existing FFmpeg commands and reverse-parse them into graphs Playground link:…

CompressX, my FFmpeg wrapper for macOS2024 · compressx.app · ▲170Hey HN, just wanted to share my success story with CompressX, my FFmpeg wrapper for macOS. For those who may not be familiar, FFmpeg is a powerful tool for converting, streaming, and recording audio and video content. I started CompressX as a weekend project to serve my 9-5 jobs, primarily to compress demo videos for uploading to GitLab and sharing with my colleagues. It took me 2 weeks to make the first working version. I shared the demo on Twitter and the reaction was extraordinary. People loved it, they said that I was bringing the Pied Piper to life. Four months later, I hit the $9,000…

Trickle - Magic Canvas ▲1,064Hey HN! Introducing Trickle Magic Canvas: the world’s first Agentic Canvas, where you can visually co-create apps and websites with AI, from idea to production. Why is a canvas better? Most AI tools today rely on linear chats or text prompts. We believe that limits creativity and clarity. Canvas changes the game. 1. Every version & page at a glance. Each page and sub-page lives on a timeline. You can quickly browse, edit, and preview progress like a living, visual document — no more digging through chat logs or scattered states. 2. The canvas is the context. Unlike linear chats, you can…

Today marks ten years, 3653 consecutive days, of running at least one mile every day under the USRSA rules [1]. To celebrate, I built an interactive dashboard that turns a decade of GPX files into charts you can explore. Running has truly changed my life: I've made lifelong friends, explored beautiful places, and more importantly invested into my own health and fitness, which I'm starting to see the positive benefits as I get older. The stack is pretty simple: a NextJS app, with a Postgres database to keep all my running data, and all the stats are pre-computed and cached in Redis, so I…

Made this website as an exercise in vibe-coding and GCP. It was posted about a few times around the internet, on sites like Morning Brew (https://www.morningbrew.com/issues/business-buzzkill), MetaFilter (https://www.metafilter.com/209703/Draw-A-Fish), boingboing.net, etc. I think it's cute! I built a basic CNN trained against penises and swastikas, and then anything that doesn't hit the 63% confidence score gets sent to a mod queue, a vibe-coded fish-tinder…

Hi HN - I made a site that takes a UK postcode, grabs the local MP's information and generates an AI mockup of what their ID might look like. It's a small, silly protest at the stupidity of the Online Safety Act that just came into force. edit - My open AI credits got hugged to death, please use a known postcode (like one from Kier Starmer's constituency, WC2B6NH) in the meantime.
