In plain words
XR2000 is a programming challenge built around an elaborate science fiction narrative. Participants solve coding problems within the context of an immersive backstory. The challenge is designed for programmers interested in creative problem-solving that combines technical skills with storytelling. It offers an alternative to traditional programming contests by embedding challenges into a fictional world.

Today I’m releasing the XR2000 : A programming challenge with extensive science fiction backstory. This is a project I’ve long wanted to make, and it has slowly come to life in the last few years. I love a good puzzle or game that involves programming. Over the years I found a couple of these games that were particularly fun. These really inspired me to start the XR2000. Before explaining more about my new challenge, I want to mention (and recommend) these games. This is one of the weirdest games ever. TIS-100 that lets you write assembly code for a fictional cpu. There is a complete manual documenting the CPU instructions and all peripherals. It really got me hooked on legacy computing and…from clearsky.dev

I made a Doom-like game fit inside a QR code2025 · github.com · ▲531I sometimes pick up random projects just because I can, this was one of those times. I made it as a week long project a while back this year but never shared here, so thought to go for it haha. I created a game inspired by Doom and the backrooms called The Backdooms under 2.4kb in minified html. (for reference, this entire post would be around 1.8kB haha) I had to use a not popular way of using GZip with Zlib headers (had to write my own script for compressing it, also in the repo) to eventually convert it a size 40 QR code that works right in your browser using Decompressionstream API. This…
The Incident ChallengeMay 2026 · theincidentchallenge.com · ▲119Hi all, I'm sure some of the best engineers out here are having a hard time standing out nowadays. It's hard to evaluate and improve your skills, when AI is writing the code. Especially when a junior dev is sitting by your side and "accomplishing" 2x more than you. I didn't like this reality where the line between real talent and AI slop is blurring, so I decided to create a challenge, purely for the community, that is made to truly give a stage for talented devs to stand out in the age of AI. We encourage devs to bring their agents with them, because the challenge is built to not be…

I built the world's most impractical 1000-pixel display and anyone in the world can draw on it. It draws a single pixel at a time and takes 30-60 minutes to complete a single image. Anyone can participate in the project by voting for the next image to be drawn, and submitting images. https://kilopx.com/

Kitten TTS is an open-source series of tiny and expressive text-to-speech models for on-device applications. We are excited to launch a preview of our smallest model, which is less than 25 MB. This model has 15M parameters. This release supports English text-to-speech applications in eight voices: four male and four female. The model is quantized to int8 + fp16, and it uses onnx for runtime. The model is designed to run literally anywhere eg. raspberry pi, low-end smartphones, wearables, browsers etc. No GPU required! We're releasing this to give early users a sense of the latency and voices…

I was wondering how I can arrange objects along a spherical helix path, and read some articles on it. I ended up learning about parametric equations again, and make this visualization to document what I learned: https://visualrambling.space/moving-objects-in-3d/ feel free to visit and let me know what you think!

For HTML Day 2025 [1], I made a web service that displays the current sky at your approximate location as a CSS gradient. Colours are simulated on-demand using atmospheric absorption and scattering coefficients. Updates every minute, without the use of client-side JavaScript.
