YouTube TimeWatcher

See exactly where your YouTube time goes

What it does

I'm a bit obsessive about productivity - YouTube was always my blind spot. So, I built YouTube TimeWatcher - it's a small pill located in YouTube's top bar, next to the bell icon. What makes it different: - Embedded in YouTube's UI - not a popup or separate dashboard - 100% local - no account, no servers, nothing leaves your browser - Smart channel exclusions - music auto-excluded; one click to override Tracks channels you've watched each day. No popups, no notifications, no nagging.

    my new app Timebar has a clever UI (I think)2013 · ▲81

Howdy, gang; After almost two weeks of sitting in Apple's approval queue, my new app Timebar is finally available. I think it has a pretty innovative UI feature, so I wanted to float it by Hacker News. It's a timer app that turns your Mac's menu bar into a sort of virtual hourglass. Your menu bar starts out tinted blue (or whatever colour you pick) and it slowly drains from right-to-left until your time is up. It works very well for situations where you want to keep track of time, but don't need to be super precise. The menu bar is easy to glance up at, and it doesn't take long to happen…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
