Some years ago, I discovered a bot called Little Birdie to watch HN comments for keywords and post a link to Slack. Unfortunately, it has disappeared and I've found myself missing this. So this bot is a re-implementation of it, but now also supporting Discord. It's inspired by this comment I made: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26599746. I actually saw several comments with HTTP URL posted, and that was the only one I bothered to comment on. This is a userscript that you can use with Tampermonkey, or paste it to JS console. I generated it with o1-preview, simply by pasting the HTML source of a HN page to the prompt and asking it to make a comment updating script. And it worked flawlessly — great job, OpenAI! Hi HN community, Here's a little project to add a chatgpt bot to slack so that you and your friends/coworkers can all interact with it together. It's pretty fun. It runs on AWS lambda to take advantage of the benefits associated with serverless infrastructure. Right now it just exposes vanilla chatgpt; however, the code is simple and extensible enough that you can add features and prompts as you want.
