Products that do what A recipe parser to get rid of the cruft. I need you to break it does
I made a recipe parser to get rid of all the cruft on recipes. Check it out: https://recipeplz.fly.dev/ Has this been done? Yes. Does this project use AI? Also yes...but barely. What it does do is grab various forms of metadata that recipe sites often provide for SEO reasons (as per schema.org Recipe spec). It's commonly ld+json, but can be other formats as well. The trick is this: What the numerous recipe sites output is not always the same - there are many variations of the schema.org specs used for Recipes, so this project attempts to correct for that. It's just a bunch of…

1) Summary = RecipeHunt(http://recipehunt.app) is a Recipe Search Engine that gives you the only 3 things that matter in my opinion: (a) Picture, (b) Ingredients, (c) Directions 2) Problem = Every recipe site is bloated(e.g. full of ads, long backstory). I just want to see 3 things: Picture, Ingredients, Directions. 3) Solution = Built a simple Recipe Search Engine that gives you only those 3 things. 4) Tech Stack = Vanilla HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, SQL (some JQuery). Frameworks are too complicated for me, so I just wanted to build with what I know. 5) Design -Main Feed = Similar…

Hi hn! It has always annoyed me that recipe websites are so cluttered and have so much (in my opinion) useless fluff, so I made a little website to solve that problem! One good thing about SEO for once is that Google has pretty much forced the internet to adopt JSON-LD for recipes so many recipes are directly extractable and for others I have several fall back parsers including an indieweb parser :) If you do find a website that is broken feel free to click the flag button or share it as I would love to fix any edge cases

Over the last 2-3 weeks, I vibecoded the recipe app that I always wished existed - recipeninja.ai . It now includes a fully interactive voice assistant so you don't need to get your dirty hands over your new iPad when you're cooking. Background: I’m a startup founder turned investor. I taught myself (bad) PHP in 2000, and picked up Ruby on Rails in 2011. I’d guess 2015 was the last time I wrote a line of Ruby professionally. Last month, I decided to use Windsurf to build a Rails 8 API backend and React front-end app, using OpenAI's realtime API for voice-to-voice responses. Over the last few…

It’s not just your average recipe site – they’ve got an AI-powered feature that generates custom dessert recipes based on your preferences or available ingredients! If you’re short on time or ingredients, the site lets you tweak recipes on the fly. You can adjust ingredients to suit your pantry, dietary preferences, or time constraints, and the AI will instantly generate a new dessert idea for you. Super handy for those moments when you have a sweet tooth but not everything in your kitchen! For example, I tried out a brownie recipe and swapped out sugar for honey – worked like a charm! The…

Hey HN! I built a recipe search engine that lets cooking enthusiasts easily find and filter high-quality recipes from top sites like Serious Eats, ChefSteps, and StarChefs, all in one place. Completely free and more sources (including cookbooks) coming soon. Would love your feedback—thanks!

I am happy to announce the updated release of my web app, 7courses. http://7courses.com/ 7courses makes it ridiculously easy to jot down and manage your collection of recipes. As someone who cooks, I often find recipes online or in cookbooks, but have no way to organize them. I have been looking for a digital "recipe box". After plenty of searching I just made my own. 7courses was built around the idea that you should be able to choose how you want to organize your recipes, and doing so should be easy and quick. The UI is responsive and intuitive, with a no frills design. Just jump right in…

Hey HN! I created a web app called Roast My Dish, it's a fun side project where you upload a photo of your dish, and an AI chef roasts it brutally. After the roast, it gives you a personalized "redemption" recipe to help you improve (or laugh). It's built using Next.js, Tailwind.css, MongoDB, Azure Open Ai API, and I tried to mix entertainment with a bit of usefulness. Great for foodies, meme lovers, and anyone curious about AI + humor use cases. Would love your feedback or ideas to improve it!

Awhile back I launched http://7courses.com on here to get some preliminary feedback. The reception was positive, but there were a few issues that had to be addressed. Mainly, the font, and the lack of a normal user system (limited to openID logins). This has been changed, along with a whole ton of other features which may or may not be immediately apparent. Either way, I think this project has come a long way, and hope you can find some use from it. http://7courses.com http://twitter.com/7courses 7courses is a central place where you can store and collect all your recipes. Say goodbye to…

Hey Everyone! This is my first post on Hacker News, and I wanted to share my project with you! From a young age, I dreamed of becoming a chef, but life took me down the path of software engineering instead. Nevertheless, my passion for creating delicious meals has always remained close to my heart. This journey led me to seek out recipes to enhance my cooking skills, but I often found myself frustrated by the websites I encountered—ads everywhere, walls of text, and recipes that were difficult to follow. That’s where PurePlates comes in. PurePlates allows users to share a recipe through…

Hello everyone, I created a EasyCook app, this app will generate food recipes based on your ingredients. The idea is not to waste food, and if you have left some ingredients in the Kitchen, you can write it down in app and get a recipe based on these ingredients. The app is free to use, however have more features available for paid users. Would be thankful for feedback, so I can improve the app more!
