Hi HN! I read[1] about Janet[2] some time ago, then immediately got impressed by the enthusiasm of its community, and by the language itself, so I started playing with it. At the time I was searching for a tiling window manager for Windows, and unavoidably the idea of scratching my own itch with Janet got hold of me, so Jwno was born. Simply put, Jwno is a keyboard-driven tiling window manager for Windows, scriptable with Janet. But since it has a complete Lisp runtime, and a thin wrapper library for Win32 APIs[3], you can certainly do much more with it. I hope you'll enjoy playing with it…

Title says all that needs to said about it, admittedly it is stupid to "copy" any Windows feature in Linux but here we are...it is not exactly made for use by extensive audience but just a rough work of it would love any suggestion/critique on it ...

Every Wayland compositor I could find is a tiling one: sway, river, Hyprland, dwl, niri. If you want windows that float and overlap with titlebars and a taskbar, the way IceWM does it, there's almost nothing. That is Steppewm

It aims to enhance productivity by enabling users to switch between workspaces efficiently and intuitively, mimicking the window switching feature found in traditional desktop environments like Windows. In my experience, using the $mod+workspace number to switch workspaces feels slower. I suspect this might be because I process visual cues more quickly than I recall specific…

Hey, HN! With all recent agentic workflows being primarily terminal- and tmux-based, I wanted to share a little project I created about decade ago. I've continued to use this as my primary terminal "window manager" and wanted to share in case others might find it useful. I would love to hear about other's terminal-based workflows and any other tools you may use with similar functionality.
