I’ve been in the MLOps space for ~10 years, and data is still the hardest unsolved open problem. Code is versioned using Git, data is stored somewhere else, and context often lives in a 3rd location like Slack or GDocs. This is why we built XetHub, a platform that enables teams to treat data like code, using Git. Unlike Git LFS, we don’t just store the files. We use content-defined chunking and Merkle Trees to dedupe against everything in history. This allows small changes in large files to be stored compactly. Read more here:…

Gitingest is a open-source micro dev-tool that I made over the last week. It turns any public Github repository into a text extract that you can give to your favourite LLM easily. Today I added this url trick to make it even easier to use! How I use it myself: - Quickly generate a README.md boilerplate for a project - Ask LLMs questions about an undocumented codebase It is still very much work in progress and I plan to add many more options (file size limits, exclude patterns..) and a public API I hope this tool can help you Your feedback is very valuable to help me prioritize And…

I built Chonkie because I was tired of rewriting chunking code for RAG applications. Existing libraries were either too bloated (80MB+) or too basic, with no middle ground. Core features: - 21MB default install vs 80-171MB alternatives - 33x faster token chunking than popular alternatives - Supports multiple chunking strategies: token, word, sentence, and semantic - Works with all major tokenizers (transformers, tokenizers, tiktoken) - Zero external dependencies for basic functionality Technical optimizations: - Uses tiktoken with multi-threading for faster tokenization - Implements…

0github.com is a pull request viewer that color-codes every diff line/token by how much human attention it probably needs. Unlike PR-review bots, we try to flag not just by "is it a bug?" but by "is it worth a second look?" (examples: hard-coded secret, weird crypto mode, gnarly logic, ugly code). To try it, replace github.com with 0github.com in any pull-request URL. Under the hood, we split the PR into individual files, and for each file, we ask an LLM to annotate each line with a data structure that we parse into a colored heatmap. Examples:…

Gitlogue is a CLI that turns your Git commits into a typing-style replay. It visualizes diffs line by line, shows the file tree, and plays back each edit as if it were typed in real time. Key points • Realistic typing animation • Syntax-highlighted diffs • File-tree view • Replay any commit • Self-contained CLI Demo video is in the README. Hi HN, I'm a longtime web dev, but this is my first macOS app. Feedback is very welcome <3 I built TongueType because every dictation app I tried failed at least one of three things: it sent my audio to someone's cloud, it charged me monthly fee, or it felt clunky or enterprisy. The cloud thing kills it for anything sensitive. The subscription thing is insulting for what amounts to "Whisper + a hotkey." TongueType runs Whisper locally on Apple Silicon via CoreML. It's built to feel like a second keyboard: tap the hotkey, talk, let go, words appear. It sits in the menu bar (no dock icon, no…

I built a tool called *Kekkai* for file integrity monitoring in production environments. It records file hashes during deployment and later verifies them to detect unauthorized modifications (e.g. from OS command injection or tampering). Why it matters: * Many web apps (PHP, Ruby, Python, etc.) on AWS EC2 need a lightweight way to confirm their code hasn’t been changed. * Traditional approaches that rely on metadata often create false positives. * Kekkai checks only file content, so it reliably detects real changes. * I’ve deployed it to an EC2 PHP application in production, and it’s working…

Hey HN, I'm 13, from Nigeria, and I just released PrinceJS — the fastest web framework for Bun right now. • 19,200 req/s (beats Hono/Elysia/Express) • 2.8 kB gzipped • Tree-shakable (cache, AI, email, cron, SSE, queue, test, static...) • Zero deps. Zero config. Built in < 1 week. No team. Just me and Bun. Try it: `bun add princejs` GitHub: https://github.com/MatthewTheCoder1218/princejs Docs: https://princejs.vercel.app Brutal feedback welcome. Here is a tool I built initially for myself to help with my German and Greek language studies. It started as a hack for creating Anki cards from native language audio. It extracts the words, finds their base forms (lemmas) and groups the examples by the lemma. At some point I realised that I have a transcription with word level timestamps that opens a lot of other opportunities. So I added a mode to click the first and last word in the transcript and it starts looping with the right gap and repeat count. Another feature I use a lot is selecting an audio fragment, sending a predefined prompt…

I wrote a small local tool to transcribe audio notes (Whisper/Parakeet). Code: https://github.com/bilawalriaz/lazy-notes I wanted to process raw transcripts locally without OpenRouter. Llama 3.2 3B with a prompt was decent but incomplete, so I tried SFT. I fine-tuned Llama 3.2 3B to clean/analyze dictation and emit structured JSON (title, tags, entities, dates, actions). Data: 13 real memos → Kimi K2 gold JSON → ~40k synthetic + gold; keys canonicalized. Chutes.ai (5k req/day). Training: RTX 4090 24GB, ~4h, LoRA (r=128, α=128, dropout=0.05), max seq 2048,…

Hey! I wanted to share a tool I've been working on. It's still very early and a work in progress, but I've found it incredibly helpful when working with Claude and OpenAI's models. What it does: I created a Python script that dumps your entire Git repository into a single file. This makes it much easier to use with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems. Key Features: - Respects .gitignore patterns - Generates a tree-like directory structure - Includes file contents for all non-excluded files - Customizable file type filtering Why I find it useful for…
