Govbase tracks every bill, executive order, and federal regulation from official sources (Congress.gov, Federal Register, White House). An AI pipeline breaks each one down into plain-language summaries and shows who it impacts by demographic group. It also ties each policy directly to bias-rated news coverage and politician social posts on X, Bluesky, and Truth Social. You can follow a single bill from the official text to how media frames it to what your representatives are saying about it. Free on web, iOS, and Android. https://govbase.com I'd love feedback from the community,…

Hey HN! The idea for this started when I came across the election forecast of FiveThirthyEight [1]. They show a 1000 different possible election outcomes - each one possible. In this newspaper homepage, I try to turn these simulations into reality by feeding AI with as much detailed information about a simulation as I can (e.g. voting results per state). See source code here [2]. The whole process is explained in more depth in my blog post: https://nerology.substack.com/p/how-i-made-the-probability-t... [1]…

Votizen is working to remove the influence of money in politics by making political decision-making more peer-to-peer. We're using Twitter and our API to pull tweets from only registered voters, and showing how the discussion breaks down among the parties. This has never been done before as far as I know, not even by the major media outlets. Please check it out and let me know what you think. If people are interested, we'll work to improve it for the further debates and campaigns.

Based on embeddings of the political parties manisfestos (gathered from ChatGPT) on different matters, we visualise how different they truly are on a PCA projection I want to extend this to US parties/candidates and make it more general

Hi HN! I built this after seeing several references to Election Truth Alliance on social media, and after reading their analysis, I just couldn't get the problems I saw in it out of my head. So I downloaded the data, and rebuilt their full analysis from scratch. Their critical error is a simple misunderstanding of the Law of Large Numbers: values collected in large samples converge to the true probability in the sample distribution. (not to be confused with the Law of Very Large Numbers: which states that unlikely things happen given enough time. That confused me too) Technical Details: - No…

Hi HN We’ve been building Bricks to make dashboard creation as simple as dropping a file. You upload your data and Bricks does the rest: • Detects the structure • Picks the most useful charts and tables • Generates plain language insights and summaries • Applies a theme • Lets you add blocks using a natural language prompt • Exports to PDF or shares as a live link We built this because creating clean dashboards from spreadsheets felt way harder than it should be. We’d love your feedback on: • How useful the first dashboard feels • Any missing chart types or formats • Anything else that could…

We have another election coming up at the end of this month here in the Netherlands, and how we use our limited land is a hotly debated topic. Last year also I shared this animated hexagonal map of Dutch land use. I've now expanded this to include several more European countries, so you can see what makes Dutch land use so special - or not. If you want to help add more countries, I'd appreciate PRs on GitHub. The map rendering is already there, it only requires land use data which can be found in the SQLite database (at least for EU countries). Github:…
