24 alternatives to Adding dynamic library loading to my pet programming language
repl / scripting language / namespaced command line aliases - nbittich/adana
This project adds dynamic library loading capabilities to a custom programming language. It enables developers to load external libraries at runtime rather than at compile time, making the language more flexible for… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. An implementation of a dynamic programming language in Rust. Includes: Parser/Compiler, REPL, Virtual Machine, Bytecode Disassembler This started out as a learning project to teach myself Rust. It has grown into a decently substantial piece of software and I've learned quite a bit in the process! Some neat things: + A garbage collector that can store dynamically sized types without any double-indirection (i.e. I have my own Box implementation with manual alloc/dealloc) + The smart pointer used to reference GCed data is a thin pointer. The ptr metadata needed for DSTs is stored in…

We’re Robin, Louis, and Thomas. Pipelex is a DSL and a Python runtime for repeatable AI workflows. Think Dockerfile/SQL for multi-step LLM pipelines: you declare steps and interfaces; any model/provider can fill them. Why this instead of yet another workflow builder? - Declarative, not glue code: you state what to do; the runtime figures out how. - Agent-first: each step carries natural-language context (purpose, inputs/outputs with meaning) so LLMs can follow, audit, and optimize. Our MCP server enables agents to run pipelines but also to build new pipelines on demand. - Open…

I've been working on Shelgon, a framework that lets you build your own custom REPL shells and interactive CLI applications in Rust. You can use Shelgon to: - Create a custom shell with only a few lines of code - Build interactive debugging tools with persistent state between commands - Develop domain-specific language interpreters with shell-like interfaces - Add REPL capabilities to existing applications Getting started is straightforward - implement a single trait that handles your command execution logic, and Shelgon takes care of the terminal UI, input handling, and async runtime…

This weekend I created stacklib.h - a single-header library that brings Forth-style stack operations to C. It implements a basic interpreter with: - Stack operations (push/pop/dup/swap/over/drop) - Arithmetic (+, -, *, /) - Output (., emit, cr) - Stack inspection (.s, depth) Example usage: Stack s; stack_init(&s); dict_init(); exec(&s, "10 20 + ."); // Prints "30" exec(&s, "1 2 3 4 .s"); // Shows stack contents The library is self-contained, requires no dependencies, and handles basic error checking. It was inspired by wanting to understand…

Aria is a modern, dynamic scripting language. It is meant to be a "sweet spot" language, easy to pick-up and enjoyable to use. It comes with a familiar C-style syntax, and draws inspiration from a variety of languages. It has a small but usable standard library and strives to be a low-ceremony-get-stuff-done kind of language. It is currently at version 0.9 and I would love feedback as I work towards getting it to 1.0.

I finally got tired of XKCD #2347 living rent-free in my head, so I built Stacktower: a tool that takes any real package’s dependency graph and turns it into an actual tower of bricks. Along the way I had to wrestle some surprisingly spicy problems. Full blog post here: https://stacktower.io The result is half visualization tool, half love letter to the chaos of modern dependency trees. Open-source, works with PyPI, Cargo, npm, and more. Doing dynamic dispatching in a strict static typing language is hard. Something as simple as, map.put("add", add); map.put("hello", hello); fn add(a: i32, b: i32) i32 { return a + b; } fn hello() []const u8 { return "Hello World"; } is impossible because the value type of key/value of the map needs to be the same but all the function types are different. Calling functions with different number of parameters, different parameter types, and different return type dynamically is difficult. Other languages either use dynamic typing, runtime reflection, macro, or passing in one big generic…

I've been using LLMs for long discovery and research chats (papers, repos, best practices), then distilling that into phased markdown (build plan + tests), then handing those phases to Codex/Claude to implement and test phase by phase. The annoying part was always the distillation and keeping docs and architecture current, so I built Unpack: a lightweight GitHub template plus docs structure and a few commands that turns conversations into phases/specs and keeps project docs up to date as the agent builds. It can also generate Mintlify-friendly end-user docs. There are other…

Unobin is a language and compiler for Infrastructure as Code (IaC). IaC source is written and compiled to a binary, called a factory. The factory includes the runtime and all dependencies. To run a factory, pass it a configuration called a stack file that defines backend state and factory inputs. The stack file can only contain configuration, not arbitrary code. Factories can also display a UI in a browser showing progress (animated screenshot in the docs).
