The Almanac▲98Hi HN, We’ve been building The Almanac, a tool that creates Wikipedia-style articles for any person using their full public online footprint. Unlike Linkedin where people have to maintain their own profile, we automatically crawl the internet for their roles, art, projects, collaborations, publications, media mentions, everything that’s actually documented. You can make a profile for yourself or anyone else by generating it. A few things we focused on: Identity disambiguation: reliably separating people with similar names - this is very tricky and something that GPT/Perplexity gets…

I’ve been in the MLOps space for ~10 years, and data is still the hardest unsolved open problem. Code is versioned using Git, data is stored somewhere else, and context often lives in a 3rd location like Slack or GDocs. This is why we built XetHub, a platform that enables teams to treat data like code, using Git. Unlike Git LFS, we don’t just store the files. We use content-defined chunking and Merkle Trees to dedupe against everything in history. This allows small changes in large files to be stored compactly. Read more here:…

Gistr▲55Hey HN, We (a small team of engineers and a designer) have been building Gistr to solve a personal pain point: we consume a lot of content daily—articles, videos, podcasts—and often struggle to retain or revisit the most meaningful parts. Most bookmarking tools felt too passive or generic. So we made Gistr a tool that lets you save links and capture "gists" (notes, insights, highlights, AI summaries) on top of them. It supports YouTube, articles, PDFs, and more. You can keep things private or share your gists publicly, almost like AI-enhanced social bookmarks. We’re bootstrapped and still in…

Made this todo list + calendar heat map over a couple of weekends, so its rough, but should be valuable enough to be used. Currently stores data in local storage, but I'm working on persisting data with auth + a database. Features coming in the couple weeks: (1) Search, (2) Categories. Hope you find it useful!

Hi everybody, I personally found the best way to motivate yourself to program everyday is by creating a practice repo and by uploading anything you code up that day into this repo. This is a great way to stay consistent seeing the bright green light up every time you push your code. It's very addicting and satisfying, and has definitely made me a better programmer over the past few months.
