Every privacy-focused DNS service requires an account: NextDNS, Cloudflare for Families, Apple's iCloud Private Relay (paid, iOS-only). The protocol that doesn’t require one - ODoH - had basically one well-known public relay operator (Frank Denis on Fastly Compute, default in dnscrypt-proxy). Hey HN! I made a service to share passwords easy and secure but never promoted it. It's called instapass.io I noticed that people besides my friends and clients actually started to use, so maybe it will be helpful for you too! You share one-time self-destruct message using one time links and I won't even be able to see what you wrote. How does it work? When you generate a message the client-side makes a random password and use that to encrypt the message. The password is appended as an anchor tag which all modern browsers never send to the server. Made this to use my laptop terminal session on mobile without data going through a server. tt start -p mypassword → get a URL (qrcode) → open in browser → enter password → connected. Direct webrtc datachannel between your machine and browser. Signaling server is a cloudflare worker, exchanges ~2KB of sdp/ice metadata then gets out of the way. Password never transmitted - argon2id derives 256-bit key locally on both ends. All terminal i/o gets nacl secretbox encryption before hitting the datachannel. double encrypted with dtls underneath but I wanted the relay to see nothing useful…
