Products that do what Another “Who Is Hiring” Aggregator: www.whoishiring.work does

Hello everyone! I know there are already a few "Who Is Hiring" aggregators, but I wanted to show off what I've done. My project was cancelled right before Christmas, so this project was a great way to blow off some steam while procrastinating looking for a new job. Tangentially, I am looking for new career opportunities if your company needs a full stack web developer, lol. This website was completed in about a week and a half. I wanted to present it in a Show HN post on Jan 2 when the usual Who Is Hiring posts were featured, but I didn't think it had enough features to make it useful. Even…

My friend Angus (angusiguess) & I became annoyed trying to parse through the wonderful 'Who is Hiring?' threads looking for internships this summer, so we made a searchable version. It's just the first roll out, we have some other stuff planned. It's important to note that this was all done programatically, so there is no possibility for 100% accuracy with most fields. We would love to hear your feedback! If you have any more personal issues (ie, want your post removed), contact info is available in our profiles. I noticed the who's hiring threads are very popular every month, so I decided to create a job board specifically for hacker news. You can tag jobs, search, view user's profiles and more. Tell me what you guys thing! Any feedback is appreciated.

Based on the multiple "Who's hiring remotely?" and similar posts on HN, I thought it might be useful to have a site that aggregates remote programming jobs. There is way too much spam out and an inconsistent way to say "work from home" so traditional searching doesn't work (or rather, takes a long time per person). I've worked in a few remote programming positions so I figured I might know of some companies or searching tricks to find them. Let me know if you'd find this type of thing useful. If we can get some traffic going, then maybe we can start attracting companies to actually list…

Hi fellow job seekers! In a few hours this month's "Ask HN: Who is hiring?" thread will be posted. I've created a simple bookmarklet that removes jobs from the cities you are not interested in. You can find the bookmarklet & instructions here: https://github.com/janhancic/hnHiringFilter I hope somebody will find it helpful.

Hi HN, I built hireindex.xyz – a searchable website that aggregates and indexes candidates from the "Who Wants to Be Hired" threads on Hacker News. Coming soon: Analytics to highlight trends in skills, technologies, and candidate preferences across HN posts. With HireIndex, you can: Search by tech stack. Quickly scan bios, salary expectations, and contact links. Filter by remote/on-site preferences and employment type. I made this because I was tired of scrolling through long threads and wanted a better way to find interesting people. Would love your feedback – especially around UX and…

Hey, folks! I'm writing this small Chrome Extension to help me find jobs I'd be interested in the monthly HN's "Who is Hiring?" thread. I've used React to render the UI that just loads a stripped down version of the posts and look into them by the tags I've chosen. Here's a demo: http://imgur.com/a/CzNSa. I haven't submitted to the Chrome Web Store yet because of their $5 fee. :P But let me know if you'd be interested and I can share the extension with you :)

There are existing HN job aggregators, but I thought we could take it a step further. Inspired by an insightful comment on a previous thread (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36163021), I built a tool that aggregates job postings and intelligently categorizes them based on user-specific preferences: * Country and remote work preferences * Employer type (e.g., startup, corporation, government) * Industry * Technologies used * Role type (developer, architect, product owner, etc.) * Salary range (where available) One of the superpowers of LLMs is reformatting information from…

Hi all, I made this tool to sift through all the who's hiring posts. You'll need node / npm, but it works locally. It includes 2019 data. In the future, I hope to include all who's hiring posts with better graphs to visualize it. You can download it and play with it from here: https://github.com/vishaldpatel/jobstats And if you do, I'd love feedback! Including code feedback. There's some stuff that I haven't followed. Thank you! - V

Hello HN Community! I've transformed the "Ask HN: Who's hiring? (November 2023)" post into a Google Sheet. Here's a quick rundown of the method: I utilized the Hacker News Algolia Search API to extract data. You can find the specific thread URL here: https://hn.algolia.com/api/v1/search_by_date?tags=comment,st... Using a GET request, I fetched comments from the thread and processed them via the ChatGPT API. Employing the ChatGPT API for each comment, I parsed crucial job details such as company, position, location, and more. This information was structured and…

Link: https://who-is-hiring.arxpoetica.com/listing/20083795 Hello all, I wanted a tool to query against and save job searches and hide irrelevant ones, so I built it. Thought I'd share. Built on the awesome SvelteJS (https://svelte.dev/) framework and equally awesome Sapper (https://sapper.svelte.dev/) deploy platform. The app pulls posts from user `whoishiring` (https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=whoishiring) on Hacker News, and provides useful tools for sorting and saving settings / filters to localStorage. Hey HN, I built a UI on top of the "Who is hiring" posts. Take a look at https://hnwork.app! One of the downsides of unstructured text posts is the readability due to it being free-form and having little to no format. While there are other tools that have been built over the years to make perusing Who is hiring posts easier, I took a try on making my own (I actually tried to build this at a YC hackathon a few years back, but got around to completing it recently). Features: 1. Text search and search filters 2. Original post text with call outs to important information 3. Removes…

I originally had this as a personal resume site but decided to build it out into a platform where anyone can sign up and host a resume page. Once I build up the talent pool, I plan on marketing to hr depts and hiring managers. I just don't know a single person who's happy with hiring on either side right now and this feels like a better solution to me.

I vibe-coded a small project that turns the “Ask HN: Who is hiring?” thread into searchable job data using OpenAI, PostgreSQL, and Metabase. It pulls the thread using the Hacker News API, uses GPT to extract fields like company, role, location, salary, and contact, stores everything in PostgreSQL, and spins up Metabase so you can explore and search the results. Right now it runs locally, but would anyone be interested if I built this out a bit more and made a public dashboard?

Hello all, I saw that many people have lost their job due to the current economic situation and I have seen many people posting status and updates on Twitter, Reddit and LinkedIn about their job search struggle. Even on who wants to be hired thread on HN, I saw more than 300 people seeking jobs. I have been thinking very hard on how I can possibly help them find a job. So I thought of building a platform where profiles of few randomly selected job seekers (2-10) is featured daily to help them find the job quickly. My mission is to help 3000+ people find a job in 2020. Here's the link:…
