Products that do what Searchable Who is Hiring? does

My friend Angus (angusiguess) & I became annoyed trying to parse through the wonderful 'Who is Hiring?' threads looking for internships this summer, so we made a searchable version. It's just the first roll out, we have some other stuff planned. It's important to note that this was all done programatically, so there is no possibility for 100% accuracy with most fields. We would love to hear your feedback! If you have any more personal issues (ie, want your post removed), contact info is available in our profiles. Hello everyone! I know there are already a few "Who Is Hiring" aggregators, but I wanted to show off what I've done. My project was cancelled right before Christmas, so this project was a great way to blow off some steam while procrastinating looking for a new job. Tangentially, I am looking for new career opportunities if your company needs a full stack web developer, lol. This website was completed in about a week and a half. I wanted to present it in a Show HN post on Jan 2 when the usual Who Is Hiring posts were featured, but I didn't think it had enough features to make it useful. Even…

Hi fellow job seekers! In a few hours this month's "Ask HN: Who is hiring?" thread will be posted. I've created a simple bookmarklet that removes jobs from the cities you are not interested in. You can find the bookmarklet & instructions here: https://github.com/janhancic/hnHiringFilter I hope somebody will find it helpful.

Hey, folks! I'm writing this small Chrome Extension to help me find jobs I'd be interested in the monthly HN's "Who is Hiring?" thread. I've used React to render the UI that just loads a stripped down version of the posts and look into them by the tags I've chosen. Here's a demo: http://imgur.com/a/CzNSa. I haven't submitted to the Chrome Web Store yet because of their $5 fee. :P But let me know if you'd be interested and I can share the extension with you :)

Hi all, I made this tool to sift through all the who's hiring posts. You'll need node / npm, but it works locally. It includes 2019 data. In the future, I hope to include all who's hiring posts with better graphs to visualize it. You can download it and play with it from here: https://github.com/vishaldpatel/jobstats And if you do, I'd love feedback! Including code feedback. There's some stuff that I haven't followed. Thank you! - V

I vibe-coded a small project that turns the “Ask HN: Who is hiring?” thread into searchable job data using OpenAI, PostgreSQL, and Metabase. It pulls the thread using the Hacker News API, uses GPT to extract fields like company, role, location, salary, and contact, stores everything in PostgreSQL, and spins up Metabase so you can explore and search the results. Right now it runs locally, but would anyone be interested if I built this out a bit more and made a public dashboard?

I noticed the who's hiring threads are very popular every month, so I decided to create a job board specifically for hacker news. You can tag jobs, search, view user's profiles and more. Tell me what you guys thing! Any feedback is appreciated.

Link: https://who-is-hiring.arxpoetica.com/listing/20083795 Hello all, I wanted a tool to query against and save job searches and hide irrelevant ones, so I built it. Thought I'd share. Built on the awesome SvelteJS (https://svelte.dev/) framework and equally awesome Sapper (https://sapper.svelte.dev/) deploy platform. The app pulls posts from user `whoishiring` (https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=whoishiring) on Hacker News, and provides useful tools for sorting and saving settings / filters to localStorage. Hi HN, I built hireindex.xyz – a searchable website that aggregates and indexes candidates from the "Who Wants to Be Hired" threads on Hacker News. Coming soon: Analytics to highlight trends in skills, technologies, and candidate preferences across HN posts. With HireIndex, you can: Search by tech stack. Quickly scan bios, salary expectations, and contact links. Filter by remote/on-site preferences and employment type. I made this because I was tired of scrolling through long threads and wanted a better way to find interesting people. Would love your feedback – especially around UX and…

I’ve built a simple tool using Python with FastAPI and FastUI that imports “Who Is Hiring” job posts, allowing you to easily search through them and track the status of each opportunity. It helps you quickly organize and manage job applications without unecessary complexity.

It came up in a post yesterday about the US Federal Reserve Interest Rate having a significant impact on tech hiring. I used the HN api to pull down the posts for "Who's Hiring" and "Who Wants to be Hired," then added the Fed interest rates to see how well it mapped. The results were pretty interesting. repo: https://github.com/bobbywilson0/hn-whos-hiring

Based on the multiple "Who's hiring remotely?" and similar posts on HN, I thought it might be useful to have a site that aggregates remote programming jobs. There is way too much spam out and an inconsistent way to say "work from home" so traditional searching doesn't work (or rather, takes a long time per person). I've worked in a few remote programming positions so I figured I might know of some companies or searching tricks to find them. Let me know if you'd find this type of thing useful. If we can get some traffic going, then maybe we can start attracting companies to actually list…
