Hey hn! I'm one of the co-founders of highlight.io, an open source monitoring tool. Today we're sharing a ClickHouse-based logging solution we've been working on. We wanted to showcase how we built it and share how you could try it out to give feedback. Since we started working on highlight.io, we've been hyper-focused on "cohesion", or ensuring that when you install your monitoring stack, all of the resources in that stack (user interactions, requests, traces, logs, etc.) are connected in a consumable way. We've written up more about our philosophy on this here [1]. We started building…

I recently built a small open-source tool to benchmark different LLM API endpoints — including OpenAI, Claude, and self-hosted models (like llama.cpp). It runs a configurable number of test requests and reports two key metrics: • First-token latency (ms): How long it takes for the first token to appear • Output speed (tokens/sec): Overall output fluency Demo: https://llmapitest.com/ Code: https://github.com/qjr87/llm-api-test The goal is to provide a simple, visual, and reproducible way to evaluate performance across different LLM providers, including…

Hey Xinwei and Zecheng here, we are the authors of TraceRoot (https://github.com/traceroot-ai/traceroot). TraceRoot (https://traceroot.ai) is an open-source debugging platform that helps engineers fix production issues faster by combining structured traces, logs, source code contexts and discussions in Github PRs, issues and Slack channels, etc. with AI Agents. At the heart are our lightweight Python (https://github.com/traceroot-ai/traceroot-sdk) and TypeScript (https://github.com/traceroot-ai/traceroot-sdk-ts) SDKs -…

Hi HN! Stefan here from superglue and today I’d like to share a new benchmark we’ve just open sourced: an Agent-API Benchmark, in which we test how well LLMs handle APIs. We gave LLMs API documentation and asked them to write code that makes actual API calls. Things like "create a Stripe customer" or "send a Slack message". We're not testing if they can use SDKs; we're testing if they can write raw HTTP requests (with proper auth, headers, body formatting) that actually work when executed against real API endpoints and can extract relevant information from that response. tl:dr: LLMs suck at…

Hey everyone, I want to share a tool, UptimeLog, that helps track internet connections and identify patterns of disconnections and durations, all presented on a calendar heatmap (which I find to be a cool way to visualize different patterns and more). Originally, it started as a quick hack for Linux, allowing me to analyze patterns of periodic internet disconnections over time. However, I have since ported it to macOS, enabling cross-platform compatibility via making the monitoring dashboard accessible through a web page locally.

Hey Hackers, I was building multiple projects lately, and integrating logging was way too much for me. Managing self hosted ELK stack, or using existing log monitoring services (running their agent was consuming hell of resources on my tiny servers). It took me a day to code my own logging server, and client for python projects (serving as python packages - pypi), named it HueLogs. Sharing with you all, please feel free to contribute if you like. I might be adding a npm package for javascript client if I get chance to code tomorrow. Few features too add: - 30 min, last day logs etc. -…
