https://github.com/inoda/private_journal Built this to use myself, and I'm curious if anybody would be interested in using it. I'm also wondering if anybody has tips to make it more secure (I'm super super new to encryption and whatnot). The security is probably a bit overkill since chances are that nobody cares about what I'm journaling, but it is fun to implement from a code standpoint.

Hey HN, I wanted to share something I’ve been working on: *RAG-Guard*, a document AI that’s all about privacy. It’s an experiment in combining Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) with AI-powered question answering, but with a twist — your data stays yours. Here’s the idea: you can upload contracts, research papers, personal notes, or any other documents, and RAG-Guard processes everything locally in your browser. Nothing leaves your device unless you explicitly approve it. ### How It Works - * Zero-Trust by Design*: Every step happens in your browser until you say otherwise. - * Local…

Hello HN, Over the last year we've been building snote.app, a Privacy focused, End-to-End Encrypted alternative to Notion. You can write, plan, collaborate and get organized - it allows you to take notes, store files, add tasks, manage projects & more. Whether you're working solo or in a team. We are hoping to use this post as an opportunity to collect feedback from fellow hackers. If there's anything we can do better, please let us know

I made a simple site that allows you to upload files. It requires no sign up and 100% free. The biggest advantage is that it returns you the direct URL to your file. So you can use it to store images for MD-based forum posts. Or put in your site's . I use the Cloudflare R2 storage which offers zero egress fees. So I pay $0 of transfer costs. I added a simple anti-nsfw files check and a simple anti-malware check. Please do not try to break it. Thanks! (>‿◠)

How do you protect your digital assets? Do you store your personal notes, dog pictures, cat videos, music playlists, health records, bank statements, and government documents in the cloud, on your phone, a usb, hard-disk, solid-state, or network drive? Is your data available to you, when and where you need it? Can your data be viewed by anyone else? Is your data stored in multiple locations or are all your eggs in one basket? Can your data be changed or deleted without your knowledge? S P A C E[1] is an open source project[2] combining End-to-End Encryption with Proof-of-Work Blockchains to…

Hey HN, Along with a handful of friends, I've been working on a note taking platform for the last couple years. We created a 2 minute pitch of our platform, if you'd prefer to read, maybe you'd want to checkout our README: https://github.com/lockbook/lockbook. If you don't want to do either of those things I'll try to summarize some of our core values: - everything end to end encrypted - open formats: markdown and svg - strong offline support - everything open source - native apps where possible - rust where possible Some other stuff we're proud of: - we have a CLI which…

I wrote this to easily create daily notes. It does very little - creates a file with a template and puts them in a directory of the current month and year. I was using Obsidian to manage my daily notes before this but in the back of my mind I was worried about privacy. I hope you try it once!
