Welcome to Jot!!

I didn't ever consider myself a privacy advocate. At the end what would all these companies do with your data - serve you more targetted ads? How bad is that? In plain words

Jot is an offline notetaking and assistant application with publicly available source code. It functions without requiring an internet connection and allows users to access and review its underlying code. The app is designed for people who want to take notes and get assistance with tasks while maintaining privacy and control over their data through offline operation and code transparency.

From the sources

Welcome to Jot! An offline, source available, secure notetaking app and personal assistant powered by offline LLM. Like Obsidian w/o Markdown and w/ offline models w/ cleaner text editing.

I didn't ever consider myself a privacy advocate. At the end what would all these companies do with your data - serve you more targetted ads? How bad is that? The problem these days is, it's actually unclear where your data will end up, whether its data brokering, so called clean rooms or just plain ol' security leaks. This is why I built Jot...

In 2021 after getting thoroughly sick of Privnote, i built "Burner Note". Even though i didn't promote it in anyway other than a post here and a post on reddit, it ended up getting about 7000(ish) unique users per month. I kinda let it die about 18 months ago but i've resurrected it with some big upgrades. Most botable the app is now truly end to end encrypted (previously was just server side), and I've added dark mode as well as a few other bells and whistles. Feedback welcomed.

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
