Products that do what Autodistill – Use big slow foundation models to train small fast models does

A few days ago I found myself trying out GLM 5.2 and was really positively impressed. The capabilities and security I was getting from this LLM are similar to those I've gotten from models like Claude or GPT, and this really surprised me. But then I thought, "I wonder how it would work on a normal computer like mine," and above all, "I wonder if it would work without going into OOM on a computer like mine." So I started working with the help of agents to test this possibility. I started converting the model to int4, understanding MTP usage, and if possible implementing DSA for long context.…

Hey HN, we trained and open-sourced a 1.5B model that predicts your next edits, similar to Cursor. You can download the weights here (https://huggingface.co/sweepai/sweep-next-edit-1.5b) or try it in our JetBrains plugin (https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/26860-sweep-ai-autocomp...). Next-edit autocomplete differs from standard autocomplete by using your recent edits as context when predicting completions. The model is small enough to run locally while outperforming models 4x its size on both speed and accuracy. We tested against Mercury…

I am excited to announce the release of TabPFN v2, a tabular foundation model that delivers state-of-the-art predictions on small datasets in just 2.8 seconds for classification and 4.8 seconds for regression compared to strong baselines tuned for 4 hours. Published in Nature, this model outperforms traditional methods on datasets with up to 10,000 samples and 500 features. The model is available under an open license: a derivative of the Apache 2 license with a single modification, adding an enhanced attribution requirement inspired by the Llama 3 license:…

Try it out! https://glhf.chat/ Hey HN! We’ve been working for the past few months on a website to let you easily run (almost) any open-source LLM on autoscaling GPU clusters. It’s free for now while we figure out how to price it, but we expect to be cheaper than most GPU offerings since we can run the models multi-tenant. Unlike Together AI, Fireworks, etc, we’ll run any model that the open-source vLLM project supports: we don’t have a hardcoded list. If you want a specific model or finetune, you don’t have to ask us for it: you can just paste the Hugging Face link in and…

Hey HN! We’re Vaibhav and Marcello. We’re building Plexe (https://github.com/plexe-ai/plexe), an open-source agent that turns natural language task descriptions into trained ML models. Here’s a video walkthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUwCSglhcXY. There are all kinds of uses for ML models that never get realized because the process of making them is messy and convoluted. You can spend months trying to find the data, clean it, experiment with models and deploy to production, only to find out that your project has been binned for taking so long.…
