24 alternatives to Barcable
Hey HN, we’re Iyan and Datta, founders of Barcable. Barcable connects to your backend (HTTP, gRPC, GraphQL) and uses autonomous agents to generate and run load tests directly inside your CI/CD. No configs, no scripts. It scans your repo, understands your API routes, and builds real test scenarios that hit your endpoints with realistic payloads. Docs: https://www.barcable.dev/documentation We built this out of frustration. Every team we’ve worked with ran into the same issue: reliability testing never kept up with development speed. Pipelines deploy faster than anyone can…

Replicas▲239Hey HN! I'm Connor, creator of Replicas. I'm a heavy Codex/Claude Code user, and I wanted to hand off tasks to agents like I would to an engineer - kick something off before work, let it scaffold while I'm at lunch, even come back to a ready PR. The problem: existing alternatives use workspace VMs that are black boxes. I have no access to any of them - they can't run tests, read logs, or use tools like the Playwright MCP (which I use to verify agents actually fixed what they claim to fix). Replicas gives agents real cloud workspaces where they can: - Run your test suite and read the…

Hi, this is Mish and Sebastian. We are working on Step CI - a fully automated API testing platform for developers. Step CI works programming-language independent and for different API paradigms (REST, GraphQL, XML). Our CLI and test runner are available on GitHub (https://github.com/stepci) under the MPLv2 license. Since our last launch, Step CI is now able to generate automated tests for your API based on your OpenAPI (Swagger) spec. This saves you a lot of time as you never have to write and maintain your tests again! We would like to invite you to try our tool and give us…

Keystone▲125We kept hitting the same wall: you clone some arbitrary repo and just want it to run without any configuration work. So we built Keystone, an open source tool that spins up a Modal sandbox, runs Claude Code inside it, and produces a working .devcontainer/ config (Dockerfile, devcontainer.json, test runner) for any git repo. We build on the dev container standard, so the output works with VS Code and GitHub Codespaces out of the box. Main use cases: reproducible dev/CI environments, self-describing repos, and safely sandboxed coding agents. Our goal is to encourage all repos to…

Hi HN! My name is Olaf, I work at CircleCI as a technology advisor in the CTO office, came in through the acquisition of my company Vamp.io (progressive delivery for microservices on k8s) in 2021. Wanted to hear the HN community feedback and thoughts on a project we think could be very interesting when adding AI coding agents to the SDLC and your CI pipelines. Our team at CircleCI built Chunk sidecars after repeatedly running into the same issue internally: by the time our CI catches a failure, the agent has already moved on and most of the useful context is gone. The basic idea of Chunk…

Hi HN! I’m so excited to show my first open-source project and first post here. I initially started this project to learn Go language, it is an experimental project. The main goal is to track the adventure of a WebRTC stream from start to finish, by debugging the project or tracking the output at console. By trying out this project, you will deep dive into the steps which are taken while starting up a WebRTC session, and more. It consists of a web UI (TypeScript) and a server back-end (Golang) projects. They can run on Docker containers, in development mode or production mode, you can find…

Scapefree tier, from $9.99/mo▲59Hey HN, we've been using Claude Code daily for months, and built Scape to fix our biggest pain point: managing multiple worktrees quickly & reducing the mental load of switching between them quickly. What we built: Scape is a macOS menu bar app that sits on top of Claude Code and gives you: - One-click worktrees: click a button, get a new git worktree with a Claude session already working on it. Develop in parallel without leaving your current branch. - Toolkit: per-session actions like "Create PR", "Commit & Push", "Run & Fix Tests." Add your own with bash scripts or prompts. -…

Hey HN, We just shipped a new AI-powered feature... BUT the "AI" piece is largely in the background. Instead of relying on a chatbot, we've integrated AI (with strict input & output guardrails) into a workflow to handle two specific tasks that would be difficult for traditional programming: 1. Identifying the most relevant base URL from HAR files, since it would be tedious to cover every edge case or scenario to omit analytics, tracking, and other network noise. 2. Generating synthetic data for API requests by passing the API context and faker-js functions to GPT-4. The steps are broken down…

The HN community has been very supportive of our recent launches, which is why we want to give you an update. Here is what changed with the latest release: - Addition of OAuth (Client Credentials flow) and Client Certificate auth - Reusable credentials - tRPC API support - Load Testing (HTTP and gRPC) - Splitting tests across multiple files - Various bug fixes, stability improvements and UX tweaks - Improved documentation and added FastAPI integration guide We built Step CI, because we wanted a simple, developer-friendly way to automate API testing without relying on proprietary cloud…

Aether▲26Since coding agents like Claude Code and Codex came out, I've been pretty obsessed with them. It's hard not to when you're getting a 20x discount on inference. I've also been frustrated by them a lot. I hated walking around with my laptop lid open while connected to a hotspot on my phone, having to tediously accept commands so I don't lose my root directory, and running out of RAM when running multiple agents that were spinning up dev servers in different worktrees at once. A lot of people would say existing cloud agents are the solution to this, as none of the above problems apply to any…

I built BuzzBench because I was frustrated with how complex performance testing tools have become. And I was ending up writing my own scripts to test endpoints and manually check out resource usage at the time of testing. Checkout demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAnbZMoQvmQ

There are plenty of good tools for load testing such as JMeter, Minigun, and plenty more - but they all have their own set of options to learn. I built this one to support a simpler workflow where you just paste your curl request (or other cli command) after your `spam` config (literally just `spam -r 2 -- curl www.google.com). It's pretty barebones but I'm 100% going to use it in my day to day - figured I'd share it here if it helped anyone else!

Hello HN, my name is Varun, and I am the co-founder of StepSecurity. Here is the backstory about Harden-Runner. We thoroughly researched past software supply chain security incidents. The devastating breaches of SolarWinds, Codecov, and others, have one thing in common – they attacked the CI/ CD pipeline or the build server. These incidents made it clear that a purpose-built security agent was needed for CI/ CD. While there are numerous agents available for desktops and servers, such as from CrowdStrike and Lacework, none have been tailored specifically to address the unique risks…
