Hey HN! My name's Nadav Hollander, and I'm the Founder of Dharma. Dharma is building an open-source library that makes it really easy to programatically borrow and lend cryptocurrencies using smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Today we're launching our Alpha Testnet release -- a command line tool that allows you to 1. Access a line of cryptocurrency credit from the command line in under 5 minutes 2. Easily build a bot that auto-invests in loans under hyper-customizable, programmable criteria Check it out: https://github.com/dharmaprotocol/dharma-cli Why I Think…

Hi HN, I'm Alon, and I'm building Alien, an open-source platform for deploying your software into your customer's environment and keeping it fully managed. In my previous startup, I heard the same question from every single enterprise customer over and over again: "My data is sensitive. Can I deploy your product to my own cloud account?" Self-hosting is becoming very popular because it lets users keep their data private, local, and inside their own environment. Unfortunately, self-hosting breaks down when someone starts paying for your software. Especially if it's an enterprise customer.…

Hi HN, Excuse me if the formatting sucks, this is a first time post. I want to introduce to you vrfd.info. A place where you can openly view and influence the reputation of any Ethereum address. Think of it as Yelp but for Eth. Addresses are classified as either verified or flagged on-chain through soulbound NFTs. A type of NFT that has no trade value as it cannot be sold. Once minted, it is stuck to the given address. The metadata of the NFT contains either information to verify the address with, this could be a social account for example. Or in the case of flagged addresses, the metadata…

This is a project I made over the weekend. What if when you SSH'd into a machine, instead of giving you a user login, it would provision a new microVM just for you? It's like a little SimCity for VMs. This turned out to be a lot of fun, and I've wanted to make my own custom SSH server for a while now, with its fancy progress bars and color animations. The hardest part was definitely debugging VM setup, boot, and networking though! Compiling the Linux kernel with all the right configs was difficult. For a while I had issues with silent hangs on boot due to lack of available system entropy, on…
