hey Everyone, I built FeedRebel [ http://www.feedrebel.com ] partly because I needed a feed reader myself but mainly because it ties in nicely with an idea that I've been working on. I got fed up with the news reader apps out there so I decided to make my own. Its a simple concept where it tracks all your favorite news sources for new posts and the social shares it received. Then it ranks it HN/Reddit style using social shares as upvotes. It's not meant to be alternative to HN, just a focused way to track your favorite sources. Recently i stumbled on too many clickgates on the Medium blog Towards Data science. Considering that most people publish to share knowledge on Medium and are driven into putting their content behind a paywall, without actually getting paid for it, including myself. Hello! I built a web-app called JungleReader that lets you follow RSS, Mastodon, YouTube, Reddit, and random blogs, all in one place. I made JungleReader as a central place to follow the blogs and sites I like, which I otherwise often lose track of. My next project (which is WIP) is a web-app called JungleWriter where you can build a simple blog and export it for hosting. Over the weekend I wrote a small web app that takes an RSS feed for a blog, grabs the feed, cleans up the HTML, strips out small irrelevant images and compiles them into an e-book with chapter anchors. It requires a Google login since it uses the Google Reader "API". As an example, I was going on a long vacation and had recently discovered Paul Buchheit's blog. Hello everyone!, this is a app I have being working on recently. I know there are number of HN readers on android. But couldn't find a one suitable for daily use. So I started developing this app. News articles, comments open in default browser of the device. Click on title of the item to open the article and anywhere else to open comments. I'd love any comments, suggestions or critiques on Newsfeedy (www.newsfeedy.com). It gathers trending topics from Twitter and Google and fetches news stories about them, and displays supplementary info from Twitter and Reddit. I originally created it for myself as a way to quickly catch up on breaking news, and a friend suggested it might be useful for others too. Hello everyone! I always found it hard to find new research papers outside of my usual bubble. I thought a random feed (with no recommendation algorithms) might be a fun way to explore. I am not sure if this is useful for anyone else but I recently found myself converting a lot of books / magazines and content to NotebookLM Deep Dives, so, I wrote this quick plugin to do that in single click. I find this is a nice way to go through a lot of content (during commute etc.) and pick interesting stuff to read. Think of it as skimming a book and deciding to read it.
