Hey folks, There has been some talk about search engines here so I thought maybe I'd share a new project I'm working on. Built it partly to help me sell my own projects. Still a lot of work to be done but would be happy to get feedback. Very early phase so don't trust your life with it. Cheers --- Edit: if anyone needs a free/no CC account just DM me on https://www.linkedin.com/in/crufter/

http://cheergram.com Hey there everyone. I have been reading HN a bit here sans there but haven't ever submitted/commented before. (I am a stay at home mom) Anyway I had this idea a while back and had my husband help me build it. I tried to do most of the designs, though some are stock vectors. Anyway I'd love your feedback on anything that will help this business grow. Thanks so much.

So a while ago I was thinking it would be neat to build a site that had the most absolute utility. The idea I came up with was a site to store those little protips that are super useful, if you know them ahead of time. I hired a guy to work on it with me, and ClueDB was born: http://cluedb.com/ Please give it a whirl (it uses Twitter auth as login but doesn't tweet anything) and tell me what you think! (Various trivia: My first try at a project coded by someone else and "product managed" by me. Runs on Flask + MongoDB. Also, this is totally unrelated to my startup.)

Hey HN! I made a website to share and discover the next big hits in music. It works like ProductHunt but for music instead of products: anyone can share their discoveries of new hits and support talented emerging artists. The result is a curation of the best new emerging music where you can find new hits daily to make your playlists shine. Demo: https://twitter.com/mattiapomelli/status/1607463004794392577 Hope you like it, would love to hear what you think :D

Hello HN! I've been working on http://underthesite.com for the last month and now think it is ready for some full strength HN feedback. What do you guys think? It crawls up to 10 pages of a given site while you wait, looking for community-provided CSS / XPath selectors and regular expressions. Additionally, I'd like to appeal to you to submit matchers for technologies that you care about. Technologies are easy to add, so add your favorite jQuery plugins, analytics tools, client-side node.js wrappers, what have you. I'm going to be running a large crawl in the next few days and want to make…

Hey HN, My co-founders and I have been working on a project for the last month or so, and we'd like to get your input on it. We wanted to hear your thoughts on what we're doing - so check out our landing page, and let us know what you think/understand. Does it sounds like something you guys would want to use? http://www.thesharedweb.com/alpha/intro We'll tell you guys more about exactly what we're doing as the conversation evolves, but we just wanted to see what the initial reaction is, and what you understand (i.e. are we describing it in a way that makes sense). Really excited to hear your…

I created http://devtest.net as a weekend project, and I'm pretty proud of it from a technical and UI standpoint. The problem is, I've built this by myself in a bit of a vacuum, to "scratch my own itch", and I don't know if this is useful to anyone other than me. I'm also not so hot on the business side and don't really know what I'm doing. Basically, I'm looking for some advice, now that I've actually launched, what now? One thing that this has shown me is that I'm capable of putting together a pretty decent web application on my own in my spare time. Should I stick with this idea, or…

Hi HN, I’ve launched the website for my upcoming side business - a little Windows desktop application that I developed to scratch a personal itch. This is a significant milestone for me as it's both my first ever website and side business. The website itself is built using Tailwind CSS with plain JavaScript and some PHP scripts to handle the sign-up forms. I used a lot of ChatGPT for all of it. It's hosted on the the Hetzner level 1 webhosting plan costing EUR 1.90 per month and put behind Cloudflare. I am actually quite curious how this setting will hold up against the traffic from this…

Introducing my latest project, We Build Landing Pages. https://theredbit.github.io/webuildlandingpages/ Excuse the blatant infancy of the project but I take 'releasing early and often' pretty seriously. The goals of this project are to... 1. Build a solid network of clients who need landing pages while learning how to run a business and to help earn funds to survive while I search for a job. Long story, I'm in a rough spot and I'm trying to get on my feet. 2. Build and release open-source tools and foster the growth of a community based on this work to help developers…

We hatched this idea of a Kickstarter + Groupon + Etsy model last week, threw up a super simple landing page that day, then launched a more detailed landing page last night. What do you think of the idea as a whole? The landing page itself? Since the Etsy / crafting world is so large and diverse, we're really trying to focus on the sharing of our site to get the word out. We are doing some minimal google ads and will be doing various tests to see what brings in the best traffic and converts the best. Interestingly enough, good old fashioned twitter searching with hand authored tweets has had…

Hello HN! I'm excited to share my product that helps companies to track their competitors, their website updates, new features, social media activity etc. I already have the first set of early adopters (thanks to a pretty good ProductHunt launch) who're using it on the daily basis so I'm excited to remove the waiting list and share it with everyone. Cheers!

Hi there! I made a project for pure joy called Indieseas.net. I made it because I disliked how search engines completely ignore smaller websites, prioritizing ads and businesses. That said, I decided to make my very own search engine! But, how could I keep business websites outside the system? The solution were 88x31 buttons. These are images or gifs that were used back in the days to connect websites between eachother. This was useful because search engines weren't very bad in the times. Thankfully, people still use them a lot nowadays! So, I whipped up a program in Typescript using Bun…

Hi HN! My name is Yossi, and I'm a solo indie maker. SEO tools are super pricey and free tools often fall short, leaving most users to costly subscription-based tools. So, I built SEO Stuff, a keyword tool that uses a credit-based system for builders like me who use SEO more sporadically. Have a great day!

Hey HN, we just launched MyRudius.com -- a completely new type of marketplace to find freelance gigs. I'd sincerely appreciate any feedback! Feel free to be blunt and honest... There's definitely work to be done. It currently uses fairly out-of-the-box Twitter Boostrap, for one thing. Thanks for any feedback available! http://www.myrudius.com

https://ilovethatshirt.com I want to hear some feedback on why we might not be getting the conversions expected. We launched using a WordPress setup just to limit our risk on development (e.g. produce an MVP), so I would hope that is not the feedback (but if it is, so be it). Please be brutal as normal :) If we suck, we need to hear it. Thanks!

Hello HN, www.LandingGear.me is designed specifically for building single page landing pages. Our first MVP got a good response with a few hundred people visiting and downloading templates. So we've taken it to the next level of development, added more features and functions and added an option to pay. We're now wanting to get a little more validation and feedback. Would you mind please having a look and posting your feedback here? thanks! Anton Winter

I've been frustrated by so many blogging platforms. Last I used Ghost. I thought it was expensive and I hated that www I had to prefix on custom domain. So, I built https://lykhari.com just for myself and then opened for public. If you want something simple do try. It became profitable and hence self sustaining!

Hi HN, We are building a search engine to help founders, investors, and early adopters to easily discover startups from all over the world. Discovering startups - whether it is a potential competitor, to validate an idea or as part of a DD process - is a difficult and time-consuming process. We believe that many existing platforms require expensive subscriptions and general-purpose search engines often do not give a complete enough picture. To solve this problem, we are releasing a free-to-use search engine (with a relatively generous daily limit on search volume). No sign-up is required. We…
