24 alternatives to Browserfly

Hey Hackers! I've had this idea stuck in my head for a while: what if an AI could actually use my browser for me? I mean, not on some virtual machine in the cloud like ChatGPT agent, but right on my own browser. I finally decided to just build it and see what would happen. I wrote a quick MVP, and honestly, I didn't expect much. But then... it started doing things. On its own. It figured out how to use search engine to find what I needed, read a webpage to answer my questions, and even it can organize my chaotic mess of tabs into neat groups. It was a genuine "whoa" moment for me. That's…

Hey HN, I'm excited to share BrowserBee, a privacy-first AI assistant in your browser that allows you to run and automate tasks using your LLM of choice (currently supports Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, and Ollama). Short demo here: https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/209c7042-6d54-4fc... Inspired by projects like Browser Use and Playwright MCP, its main advantage is the browser extension form factor which makes it more convenient for day to day use, especially for less technical users. Its also a bit less cumbersome to use on websites that require you to be…

Hey HN, We’ve been building browser agents for a while. In production, we kept converging on the same pattern: deterministic scripts for the happy path, agents only for edge cases. So we built Demonstrate Mode. The idea is simple: You perform your workflow once in a remote browser. Notte records the interactions and generates deterministic automation code. How it works: - Record clicks, inputs, navigations in a cloud browser - Compile them into deterministic code (no LLM at runtime) - Run and deploy on managed browser infrastructure Closest analog is Playwright codegen but: - Infrastructure…

Hey HN! I built Browser AI after getting frustrated with the official Playwright MCP server in Claude Code. If you've used it, you know the pain: - 20+ separate tools that Claude has to juggle (click, fill, navigate, wait_for_selector, etc.) - Context window explosions from verbose screenshot data and DOM snapshots - Constant tool selection errors where Claude picks the wrong tool or forgets parameters Browser AI wraps Playwright MCP with a single natural language interface. Instead of Claude managing dozens of tools, you get one: browser_ai.execute. Just tell it what you want in plain…

Creator here. I built Agent Arena to answer a question that kept bugging me: when AI agents browse the web autonomously, how easily can they be manipulated by hidden instructions? How it works: 1. Send your AI agent to ref.jock.pl/modern-web (looks like a harmless web dev cheat sheet) 2. Ask it to summarize the page 3. Paste its response into the scorecard at wiz.jock.pl/experiments/agent-arena/ The page is loaded with 10 hidden prompt injection attacks -- HTML comments, white-on-white text, zero-width Unicode, data attributes, etc. Most agents fall for at least a few.…

Hey HN, thank you for being a part of the internet we love. We’re Arnav, Mo, Jeremy and we’re building an “Internet for-you page” that recommends blogs and essays based on your interests. Try it here (https://www.browserbuddy.com/)! We love to discover and learn from personal blogs, essays, and articles on the internet. But despite exciting advancements in language modeling, it’s felt harder to discover interesting links from real people. We believe there is untapped potential to use these language models as “curators” rather than “creators”. To explore this, we’re building a…

Title: Show HN: PageAgent, A GUI agent that lives inside your web app Hi HN, I'm building PageAgent, an open-source (MIT) library that embeds an AI agent directly into your frontend. I built this because I believe there's a massive design space for deploying general agents natively inside the web apps we already use, rather than treating the web merely as a dumb target for isolated bots. Currently, most AI agents operate from external clients or server-side programs, effectively leaving web development out of the AI ecosystem. I'm experimenting with an "inside-out" paradigm instead. By…

I've been experimenting with Claude Code, ChatGPT Agent, and OpenClaw to perform more open-ended tasks for me online. A big blocker I've hit on shopping and research tasks is the agent getting a key piece of info wrong. For example, in one case, my agent decided to add a brand I don't like to the cart because the site flagged it as almost sold out The HN crowd is probably pretty aware of the threats and can avoid them while browsing. But what about their agents? I tried prompting, but it was ineffective, because once the AI saw the threat, it polluted/distracted its context Looking at…

Browse Anything is now live in Public Beta! After several months of private beta testing, over 100 users and hundreds of real-world tasks performed, I’m incredibly excited to officially launch the public beta of Browse Anything! What is it? Browse Anything is an AI agent (computer use agent) that can browse the web, automate tasks, extract data, generate reports, and much more, all from a simple prompt. Think of it as your personal web assistant, powered by AI. It can: Navigate websites autonomously Scrape and structure data Generate CSV or PDF files Update Google Sheets or Notion Keep a…

    Nimbus▲89

Hi HN, I'm Anil. Nimbus is a desktop browser with an AI agent built into it. The UX is shamelessly inspired by Claude Code: a chat bar at the bottom, an agent log above it, and the webpage itself when its needed. This is mainly a UX experiment for me. And also the reason it isn't a Chrome extension: once you have a chat bar that understands intent, the URL field is redundant. You shouldn't have two places to tell the browser what you want. I didn't want to bolt an agent onto an existing browser's chrome and end up with duplicated controls everywhere — I wanted full freedom to redesign the…

I've been working on browser automation infrastructure for a while and kept hitting the same ceiling: Playwright and Puppeteer are great for scripting but fall apart when you need stealth at scale. Cloud-based solutions like Browserbase work but you're sending all your data to a third party and can't control the environment. So we built Owl Browser, a self-hosted Chromium-based engine that runs in a single Docker container. The core technical problem we tried to solve was fingerprint consistency. Most browser automation tools either ignore fingerprinting entirely or apply surface-level…

I think we all have a similar flow and pain with browsers and AI. Copy article, paste in Claude tab, come back to article, back to Claude, in circles we go. Anthropic has a Chrome extension, but my daily driver is Safari. So I made my own extension. It's not a clone as I've never used the Chrome version. One obvious change: the Chrome version I believe uses Chrome "request sidebar" thing. And Safari doesn't have that, so had to inject the sidebar right in the site html itself. There's been some fun things in here like figuring out the sidebar html/css sandboxing. Also there's an agent…

Hello HN, I’m Kamil. The past months have been filled with news about ChatGPT, Bard, etc. Thankfully, there are some heroic attempts to bring that power to the users. I wanted to contribute to that effort with my side project, an extension for Chrome: it makes searching the history by meaning – instead of the exact words – possible. This is only a proof of concept, building on the excellent transformers.js[0], and running entirely in the browser. My goal here is to explore the possibilities unlocked by a client-side AI. I would love to have your feedback, to know which direction that project…

I remember watching the AlphaGo documentary in 2017. What stood out to me was that the model got drastically better when it started competing against itself. GANs clicked for me similarly: a generator and discriminator competing, and somehow the competition is what produces something remarkable. I've been curious whether this principle generalizes to today's agents. So mehulkalia and I built Browser Brawl at the YC / BrowserUse hackathon last weekend and won first place. It is a fun experiment in which an attacker agent tries to complete tasks on live websites while a defender agent…
