Browser Buddy
Hey HN, thank you for being a part of the internet we love. We’re Arnav, Mo, Jeremy and we’re building an “Internet for-you page” that recommends blogs and essays based on your interests. Try it here (https://www.browserbuddy.com/)! We love to discover and learn from personal blogs, essays, and articles on the internet. But despite exciting advancements in language modeling, it’s felt harder to discover interesting links from real people. We believe there is untapped potential to use these language models as “curators” rather than “creators”. To explore this, we’re building a…

In plain words
Browser Buddy is an AI-powered recommendation system that curates a personalized feed of blogs, essays, and articles based on user interests. Users can ask the tool for recommendations on specific topics, from practical advice to niche subjects, and paste links to discover similar content. The system learns from browsing patterns and link selections to refine recommendations over time, using a language model trained to understand how people share and recommend online content.

I built a self hosted recommendation feed to escape Google's algorithm2022 · github.com · ▲214I created this chrome extension for myself where I track my own behavior locally and recommend myself content from platforms I want content from (youtube/twitter/quora/etc) in a feed. I made it public just in case anyone else was interested. I would rather have control over my own algorithm and own the data. Also, it gives me flexibility. Turns out I do like these feeds just not when I don't own it haha. Let me know what you think of my implementation?
Browserfly2025 · browserfly.app · ▲203Hey Hackers! I've had this idea stuck in my head for a while: what if an AI could actually use my browser for me? I mean, not on some virtual machine in the cloud like ChatGPT agent, but right on my own browser. I finally decided to just build it and see what would happen. I wrote a quick MVP, and honestly, I didn't expect much. But then... it started doing things. On its own. It figured out how to use search engine to find what I needed, read a webpage to answer my questions, and even it can organize my chaotic mess of tabs into neat groups. It was a genuine "whoa" moment for me. That's…

- WSWeb search using a ChatGPT-like model that can cite its sources2022 · beta.sayhello.so · ▲318
We’ve trained a generative AI model to browse the web and answer questions/retrieve code snippets directly. Unlike ChatGPT, it has access to primary sources and is able to cite them when you hover over an answer (click on the text to go to the source being cited). We also show regular Bing results side-by-side with our AI answer. The model is an 11-billion parameter T5-derivative that has been fine-tuned on feedback given on hundreds of thousands of searches done (anonymously) on our platform. Giving the model web access lessens its burden to need to store a snapshot of human knowledge…
FriendwareJan 2026 · friendware.ai · ▲190Hey HN, I built Friendware because I wanted autocomplete that works everywhere on my Mac, not just in code editors. In any text field it can draft replies, rewrite text, and write prompts for AI tools; it uses on-screen context to adjust based on what you’re doing. My goal was making it feel native and not require workflow changes, so it stays accessible across apps by living in the notch. Currently working on better voice learning and a memory system, would love feedback on what to prioritize!
AlliHatMay 2026 · allihat.com · ▲96I think we all have a similar flow and pain with browsers and AI. Copy article, paste in Claude tab, come back to article, back to Claude, in circles we go. Anthropic has a Chrome extension, but my daily driver is Safari. So I made my own extension. It's not a clone as I've never used the Chrome version. One obvious change: the Chrome version I believe uses Chrome "request sidebar" thing. And Safari doesn't have that, so had to inject the sidebar right in the site html itself. There's been some fun things in here like figuring out the sidebar html/css sandboxing. Also there's an agent…

Community, All the HN belong to you. This is an archive of hacker news that fits in your browser. When I made HN Made of Primes I realized I could probably do this offline sqlite/wasm thing with the whole GBs of archive. The whole dataset. So I tried it, and this is it. Have Hacker News on your device. Go to this repo (https://github.com/DOSAYGO-STUDIO/HackerBook): you can download it. Big Query -> ETL -> npx serve docs - that's it. 20 years of HN arguments and beauty, can be yours forever. So they'll never die. Ever. It's the unkillable static archive of HN and it's…
