My background project for the last two years has been re-implementing my 2004 C++ shoot'em up game in TypeScript + WebGL, and it's finally done (just in time for the 20th anniversary!) Play the game online: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/darklaga.html Technical article about the remake: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/remake.html I have tested Firefox, Chrome and Edge on desktop and mobile (no access to a device capable of running Safari). It's amazing how much difference 20 years makes: the hardware is so much more powerful, the web…

I remember watching the AlphaGo documentary in 2017. What stood out to me was that the model got drastically better when it started competing against itself. GANs clicked for me similarly: a generator and discriminator competing, and somehow the competition is what produces something remarkable. I've been curious whether this principle generalizes to today's agents. So mehulkalia and I built Browser Brawl at the YC / BrowserUse hackathon last weekend and won first place. It is a fun experiment in which an attacker agent tries to complete tasks on live websites while a defender agent…

I created a free, open-source browser game inspired by Factorio. You place "Input" machines that produce streams of bytes. You use conveyor belts to feed those bytes through other machines which produce transformations, and then to "Output" machines which produce audio or visual effects. The game uses v86 to run a real Linux VM in the browser. I use the 9p filesystem to enable IPC via FIFO pipes, so shell commands can stream data continuously rather than just running once. Features: - 30+ machine types (sources, filters, routers, packers, audio synthesis, displays) - "Command" machines that…

Hey, HN! I'm Aaron. I built an open-source Lovable for Claude Code users. Platforms like Lovable, Replit Agent, and Bolt require separate API keys and $25+/month subscriptions. But if you’re already subscribed to Claude Pro or Cursor, you can use those plans directly without extra costs. Claudable runs entirely locally through Claude Code (Cursor CLI also supported) and provides: - Instant UI preview (similar to Lovable) - Web-optimized, production-ready designs - Direct Git integration - One-click Vercel deployment - Zero additional API costs It’s open source and available today. I’m…

Hi HN, When browsers killed NPAPI plugin support, thousands of early 2000s web games were effectively lost to time. Macromedia Shockwave, in particular, was a closed-source, highly complex, and largely undocumented beast. So a few friends and I spent the last two years doing something arguably unhinged: rebuilding the entire Director engine from scratch. Today, we're finally sharing dirplayer-rs. Repo: https://github.com/igorlira/dirplayer-rs We intentionally stayed quiet on this until we had undeniable proof that it was actually possible. With our latest v0.4.1 release,…

Hi HN!, We're a group of High Schooler's who have made a website for an international cryptic hunt we have been organizing. Everything has been built from the ground up and has been open sourced. We'd love feedback on our work. And if it interests you, feel free to register and try a level or two! Hey HN, wanted to share this cli and skill I built @ Steel (I'm the founder) I was trying to set up openclaw on railway and quickly bumped up against issues with a lack of browser access, a core component of the system. Agents like OpenClaw and CC are super good at using browsers but, similar to code sandboxes, they should be able to control these browser in the background, in parallel, without getting blocked by captchas. So I reworked agent-browser, the most popular cli for browser agents, to navigate Steel cloud browser sessions to they can run at scale and unhindered. It's a relatively…
